It'll Go Down To The Wire on Pando, Brylin and Salvador

"Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said tonight decisions on Sergei Brylin, Jay Pandolfo and Bryce Salvador will have to "wait until tomorrow."

Of course, tomorrow at noon, Pandolfo and Salvador will become unrestricted free agents if they haven't re-signed with the Devils before then. And Brylin will become an unrestricted free agent if neither he nor the Devils decide to pick up the $1.52 million option on his expiring contract for next season and the sides are unable to agree on the two-year contract they have been working on."

I have heard that Scott Gomez and Chris Drury (Pandolfo's former Boston University teammate) have given glowing recommendations to Rangers' management about Pandolfo. http://njmg.typepad.com/devilsblog/2...g-done-wi.html

The last paragraph makes me very sick to my stomach. I just cannot imagine Pando in a Ranger uniform. I would puke.

Salvador signs, Brylin opts himself in, Pando walks, which is definately a twist. Might not have to worry about resigning him. Unless he's just an ******* that doesn't want to return phone calls and say bland generalities.

But Pando should be an easy sign if either party wants it. So it looks like one or neither does.

The Rangers will probably offer him like 3.5 million...Honestly I hope we get Pandolfo back and I could care less about Salvador...Brylin is not going to get many high offers from free agency...Let him test the market and then what ever offer Lou gave him will probably look pretty good.

I love Pando, but he is symptomatic of what is wrong with this team, and quite frankly, the whole organization. He is an overachieving defensive specialist whom, based on last year, has been dragging John Madden down offensively. It is no surprise to this observer that Madden blossomed without his old "ball and chain" on his left wing.

He is old and slower and due for a raise.

Hmm, now that I think about it, he's perfect for the Rag$.

Well with that approach look at the bright side...he can do the same thing to Chris Drury.

The commentary on TG's site is driving me nuts. What are these people watching?

Losing Pando would make this the most disasterous offseason ever? ***, seriously. What is Pando's track-record, shadowing Jagr? We don't even know what the end result of that would have been because Jagr crippled himself trying to punch Gomez.

I have my fingers crossed on this one. I would rather him not go to the Rangers because I don't want to have to listen to people *****ing about him all year, but I would even prefer him to go to the Rangers than be stuck in the same rut.

Wow, way to jump all over a player because a journalist wrote that apparently, two people he knows are telling him that their team is good. Making it seem like he went into Lou's office with a Rangers tattoo on his ass and told him to kiss it.

I don't really see that here. There's no evidence in that article that he's signing with the Rangers. But there's plenty of evidence that there's no much going on with the Devils and him. Like I said, this was a really easy re-up if one or the other wanted it.

If he or his agent had returned any of the many messages I've left for them in the last week, I'd let you know what he's thinking.

If Pando were looking to re-sign, you would think you would hear he or his agent "saying all the right things" in the media. Instead, silence. Perhaps seems like he's made up his mind to leave, and Lou's too much of a gentleman to say "they won't talk" at this point.

While I'm kinda mixed on possibly losing Pando, I gotta say this thread is eerily similar to one exactly one year ago tonight that had some of us (myself included) saying things like "see ya later Raf", "Raf represents what is wrong with this team, we need size and we're too small", "some team will grossly over-pay for Rafalski".

A year later I think most of us wish we still had Rafalski.

Replacing a Rafalski is a million times harder than replacing current (not all-time) Jay Pandolfo.

Pandolfo's been great for this organization, but will only start to slow down after this point. I would be perfectly fine with Zubrus on Madden's left wing.

Of course Rafalski is a more valuable player than Pando. I'm just pointing out that a lot of us grossly under-estimated how valuable Rafalski was to this team. I'm just saying this has that same feel, but if we lose Pando hopefully it won't turn out the same way.

That's my read. I mean, if Salvador resigns, it sounds like his agent and TG are going on vacation together. Meanwhile Pando's won't even waste 3 seconds of his time to drop one meaningless line.

That show has been my favorite comedy since the first episode I saw. I love the dark humor, it's like a darker seinfeld without the stupid laugh track.
