Lou's Koolaid

I know the feeling among many of us is that Sutter is waiting in under Lou's wings.
How much more time do you give Lou as GM?Lou's Koolaid 06-30-2008, 07:41 PM I know the feeling among many of us is that Sutter is waiting in under Lou's wings. Classic Devil 06-30-2008, 07:44 PM Until he decides to retire. åboriginal 06-30-2008, 07:59 PM 1 year sutter takes over gm burns takes over behind the bench again fluffernutter mf 06-30-2008, 08:01 PM Lou will be GM as long as he damn well pleases. Clarkson Falls Down 06-30-2008, 08:03 PM As long as he wants. I think we're disrespecting Lou alittle on here. I know that he hasn't been in top form the past few years, but he's still put teams together that compete and are in the top 10 annually in points in the league. He's won us three cups and deserves to run this team for however long he wants, unless he completely runs this team into the ground. Brooklyndevil 06-30-2008, 08:06 PM I said other, because if he puts out a similar team to last year's team and tells all us Devils fans how he loves the chemistry of the team, I'll be the first one with a sign saying Lou must go! coolstorybro 06-30-2008, 08:12 PM until he replaces himself Elias to Parise 06-30-2008, 08:17 PM Anyone know how old Lou is? Elias to Parise 06-30-2008, 08:18 PM I voted 2-4 years, definitley closer to 4 years though. Jiri Bicek 06-30-2008, 08:18 PM H-Q7b-vHY3Q&feature=related The Cuban 06-30-2008, 08:23 PM Anyone know how old Lou is? He'll be 66 in October. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_Lamoriello bense27 06-30-2008, 08:32 PM Soon hopefully. Unless he actually does something tomorrow. DevilBesideYou 06-30-2008, 08:34 PM Until he decides that he's done. When Marty's done, I think. Chariot 06-30-2008, 08:58 PM Somehow the Devils make $$$ right. Is the ownership happy? Well they are not happy to lose to the Rangers , but in general they somehow make $$$ right? devilzrule27 06-30-2008, 09:05 PM I say five more years but regardless of when it happens its going to be when Lou wants it to happen. No one is telling Lou when to leave. TaiMaiShu 06-30-2008, 09:26 PM blasphemy! devsfan8 06-30-2008, 09:35 PM He can't be the GM forever. I give him another 2-4 years and probably on the lower end of that. I do think Sutter is the next GM. I think Lou will remain Team Persident and have a life sentence like the Pope in which he will remain President until he retires or passes away. The thing as a Devils fan I am happy about is I know Lou will leave this team in good hands as GM and will make sure the team is competitive once he leaves. Lou in a way really WILL be an executive in the Devils organization forever and as long as his input is given, it is fine with me. MissionHockey 06-30-2008, 09:36 PM Lamoriello is pretty old. I'll say 2-4 years just because I think he'll retire within that range. DevilFisch 06-30-2008, 10:24 PM I'll give Lou as much as time as he wants. If there's anyone who deserves it in this league, it's him. forceten 06-30-2008, 10:52 PM As long as he is willing to grace us with his presence. He turned a Mickey Mouse organization into the most or one of the most successful and consistently competitive organizations in the entire league. Build a team that didn't even have an 80 game TV contract into a franchise that owns its two minor league affiliates. Won three stanley cups, four eastern conference championships. Been to the playoffs all but two years since 87-88... The New Jersey Devils are one of the most respected NHL teams. A generation ago, they were a joke. Lou Lamoriello is a major reason why. We're a bit spoiled - we expect to compete for a championship every year. That's also Lou's doing. But reality is what it is, and you can't win every year. Darius Dangleaitis 06-30-2008, 11:18 PM Until he decides to retire. My thoughts exactly. The guy has gotten us this far as an organization. Even if he's been a tad rusty since the lockout, he's still one of the best minds in hockey. He's done whenever he feels ready to step aside. ILikeItVeryMuch 06-30-2008, 11:23 PM Somehow the Devils make $$$ right. Is the ownership happy? Well they are not happy to lose to the Rangers , but in general they somehow make $$$ right? http://www.minasi.com/ducklot/snak2.jpg I would bet dollars to doughnuts this was the most profitable year in Devils history. And if we werent making money hand over foot with our absurd prices, then shame on us. AfroThunder396 07-01-2008, 12:37 AM Lou is one of the best GMs not just in hockey, but in the history of professional sports. He'll be GM as long as he's physically able to. BenedictGomez 07-01-2008, 02:08 AM I'm a bit disgusted with the 49% that have thus far voted that Lou isnt God. britdevil 07-01-2008, 04:03 AM What a distasteful thread. As long as he damn well pleases. KohoDonuts88 07-01-2008, 05:14 AM What a distasteful thread. As long as he damn well pleases. Damn right. I can't get over the disrespect for Lou I've been reading. Do any of you remember what it was like before 1988? Of course, most of you probably weren't born before 1988. This garbage I'm reading that Lou won't spend money. ********. The Devils over the last several years have always been in the high end of spending. Not obscene like the Rangers, but the payroll was always up there. So Lou hasn't gone out and spent the big bucks on the flavour of the week free agent the past few years? So who's going to be this year's $7M plus 65 point forward? Is that what we really need? You say Lou has "screwed up" since the lockout. ********. So Scott "All About Me" Niedermayer waits two ****ing weeks to make a decision in 2005, until there's no one left on the market. Yep. Lou is guilty of loyalty. But he fixed the mistake. I could care less how much money rots in Lowell. It's not my money. If Lou had gone out that year and signed Niedermayer's replacement on July 1, you'd be all over him for sending poor Scotty the wrong message, that he wasn't wanted. Boo-****ing-hoo. You want him to pay Gomez $7M? No, thanks. I'll take 2 Zubrus' for less, I'll get more out of them. Want him to lock up Rafalski long-term? See how much you appreciate his $6M cap hit when he's 39. Sure, he looked great this year playing with Lidstrom. He looked great playing with Stevens, too. And I'm not knocking Raf, but 5 yrs/$30M, see ya later. You want Hossa for $8M+? Won't happen, so I can't be proven wrong, but Hossa would score about 70 points if we're lucky. For $8M? Give me two of Naslund, Brunette, Rolston, Stillman for that price, we'll get more out of them. Look, it's a great testament to the last nearly 15 years that we're not satisfied with anything less than the Cup. But there ebbs and flows, ups and downs, during these times. Same thing with the almighty :sarcasm: Detroit Red Wings. There are transitional years you have to go through. But there's no cause for the disrespect for the one man who is singlehandedly responsible for every bit of success we've enjoyed watching. britdevil 07-01-2008, 05:20 AM Koho: Hero status rewarded. :handclap: I'll just throw out that last offseason Lou spent over $8mill worth of cap space on players, the man isnt afraid or cheap. I'm just as sick of reading the cheap stuff as anyone. OnDaMark 07-01-2008, 06:20 AM I think it will be 2 - 4 years. He won't stay after Marty retires, maybe as President but will turn over GM to Sutter. | ||
