Ovechkin and Semin

We all know Ovechkin can score so can Semin, could Semin ever make a push for the Richard trophy with Ovechkin in the same year? (assuming he stayed healthy)

Maybe. With a full season healthy, and with a healthy Nylander, maybe but it's a really outside shot. Ovechkin could hit 70, I can't see Semin topping 50. He's too streaky to be a real Richard threat, though may he'll grow out of it.

Agreed. Even putting Ovechkin aside, I don't see Semin keeping up with Kovalchuk and the rest of the league over 82 games.

I think Semin can score 50 goals if he plays like he did when we got Fedorov.

Yeah, but 50 probably won't be enough for the Richard for another 7 years or so, especially if they're cracking down on goalie equipment. I think Semin can hit the 50s, but if he can hit the 50s Ovie can probably hit the 70s.

40 goals for a 1st line player is great... for a player playing 2nd line minutes, it's phenominal.

Semin's probably the best 2nd line winger in the league.

I think he could, but he'd have to be put on the point for the power play again and like other people have said he'd have to grow out of the "streakyness."

I miss that too, but Ovie scored 22 PP goals from the point so I won't complain.

Malkin stepped up his game when Sindey went down. I think Semin would do the same if Ovi got hurt, but I don't ever want to find out if I'm right. Semin only leads the league in goals if Ovi is hurt and others have off years

It was nice, but Semin is better on the wall. He's easily the best right-handed passer on the team (if not the best passer outright, but that's probably a stretch because Backstrom is pretty phenominal) so he's more valuable on the wing on the PP, depending on the setup.
