Your list looks good, but i'd put Friesen in the players you wouldn't want to see moved this season list Friesen is a real tough one for me. I wouldn't deal him for Rod Brind'Amour as I wrote in a thread over on the Hurricanes board not too long ago, (even though i like Rod a good bit), but I think Lou may have to consider moving him by virtue of the fact that he has to have some decent trade value right now with his Stanley Cup Finals and Eastern Conference Finals successes still fresh in the minds of many GM's to fill some of the big weaknesses this team faces heading towards the stretch run. Personally, I'd like to keep him for his big game clutch scoring prowess in game 7's, but I'd move him if it were a no brainer 2 for 1 type deal which could possibly add more balanced scoring to this offense. Tough call there. I would never deal him just for the sake of moving him thats for sure.

Question is, how does Lamoriello view them?
}:-)>
Probably:
I.) The Untradeable Core:
1) Patrik Elias
2) John Madden
3) Scott Niedermayer
4) Scott Stevens
5) Martin Brodeur
6) Sergei Brylin
II.) The Untradeable, Period
1) Igor Larionov (I don't believe I gave him an NTC)
III.) Players you would consider moving for the betterment of the team:
1)Everyone else

These I have a problem with.

1. Friesen has proven himself a clutch goal scorer for the Devils. Yes, he disappears for stretchs, but what he has shown in last years playoffs gives him a pass for at least more season.

2. Whats with you guys and Colin White?????????? White is the ONLY physical defensemen in the ENTIRE lineup. Unless two players of Whites caliber are coming back for him, he should be on the "Can't Touch" list

2) Jeff Friesen
3) Colin White

I cannot see any scenario in which Lou Lamoriello will trade Paul Martin. The guy is only going to be 23 years old on March 22, and he is playing really well. In fact, Martin is playing in Scott Stevens spot alongside Brian Rafalski, and Martin is doing a decent job.

Good list. Here's mine:

I.) The Untradeable Core:
Martin Brodeur, Patrik Elias, John Madden, Scott Niedermayer, Scott Stevens, Jamie Langenbrunner, Brian Rafalski, Sergei Brylin

II.) Players you wouldn't want to see moved this season:
Jeff Friesen, Jay Pandolfo, Brian Gionta, Scott Gomez, David Hale, Paul Martin, Alexander Suglobov, Tuomas Pihlman

III.) Players you would consider moving for the betterment of the team:
Colin White, Turner Stevenson, Grant Marshall, Michael Rupp, Erik Rasmussen, Christian Berglund, Tommy Albelin, Sean Brown, Rob Skrlac, Craig Darby, Jiri Bicek, Ari Ahonen

III.) Players you just plain wouldn't mind seeing dealt away:
Igor Larionov

Gionta's got to stay. You don't get that kind of energy in a player these days. Brylin, too. He can do both offense and defense and play center and was there for all 3 Stanley Cups. There's a reason why he didn't move while Brendan Morrison, Steve Sullivan, etc. did.

I'm also of the opinion Sergei Brylin should be in the untradeable core. Otherwise I agree with Unthinkable 100%.

I agree Brylin should be untradable, but wouldn't be surprised to see him go Group V, like Brodeur mentioned, I think Sarge is happy with in NJ, but he might want arbitration, if he isn't offered a significant raise. In that case it may be best to get some kind of return for him now. But with the CBA up in the air, who knows what other teams will offer him.

With Schwab Group III, and his unreliable groin, and Clemmensen likely to go Group VI, I don't know how expendable Ahonen is, or how cheap I would let him go.

Albelin has said he would retire before he would play for another team.

I would move Martin, Gomez, White, Friesen, Gionta, and Stevenson from III to II, unless White fetched a Vaananen type (big, young, proven). Obviously, if Lou can get a steal to improve over who he is trading, sure go for it.

Marshall and Stevenson are UFA, but I would want a healthy Turner for the playoff run. Ditto for Grant, if he can raise his level of play for the post-season like he and Freeze did last year.

Berglund may be out for the rest of the season with his abdominal surgery.

If Madden signs somewhere else, I don't know how effective Pandolfo will remain without him.
