Despite the OT loss to the Russians the good news is that Canada grabbed it's #1 ranking in the IIHF again toppling Sweden. It also helped that the seeding in the Olympics forces us to play USA, Switzerland and one of the teams that beats the relegation (eg. Italy, Latvia) in the 2010 Olympics. This is from what I have read at least. It is good to see us at #1 in the world again and while I am still fumed at Hitchcock and co. for that performance on Sunday I suppose it is not too bad of a travesty to lose to a stellar team in OT after winning 3 Gold Medals in the last 5 years and winning the last 4 WJC and owning the Super Series. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Canada, obviously, cannot win everything. other countries have superstars and are doing really good job developing. They're getting better and they deserve whatever they win.
As for WJC, it doesn't count in the rankings [As far as I know] otherwise Canada would never have fallen off #1 spot.
I'm also looking forward to USA game in '10. Hopefully, I can go to Vancouver and enjoy some games......[Not Canada-US since it will be sold out before I get to them]

the WJC has it own ranking system. im pretty sure Canada is #1 there.
Will be important this, come 2010.
