What russians will play in vancouver.......nosaj 05-19-2008, 11:15 AM that didnt play at the WC this year? Most likely Malkin, Gonchar and who else? Dima87* 05-19-2008, 11:17 AM Don't forget about Datsyuk. Raging Bull 05-19-2008, 11:17 AM Datsyuk, Gonchar to name a few. HalfOfFame* 05-19-2008, 12:00 PM not too bad names: malkin, datsjuk, gonchar, yashin, kasparaitis? ?kovalev? Brownies 05-19-2008, 12:03 PM not too bad names: malkin, datsjuk, gonchar, yashin, kasparaitis? ?kovalev? Forget about the last 3 ones. Arjun 05-19-2008, 12:05 PM not too bad names: malkin, datsjuk, gonchar, yashin, kasparaitis? ?kovalev? Kovalev is too slow, he'd make no impact whatsoever :sarcasm:. Kaktus 05-19-2008, 12:12 PM malkin, Datsyuk, gonchar, Kovalev.. those are big names. Do not forget Zubov. CCCP 05-19-2008, 12:14 PM I wonder if Zubov would go. Kaktus 05-19-2008, 12:14 PM I wonder if Zubov would go. He probably would not. :( Berkut 05-19-2008, 12:37 PM Bryzgalov, Frolov, Zherdev RusskiyHockey 05-19-2008, 01:47 PM I'm assuming some 15 or so players of this year's roster will be on the Olympic team. Then Sushinsky, Mozyakin, Gorovikov, Fedorov, Proshkin, D. Markov, Eremenko, and Biryukov can be replaced by Frolov, Malkin, Datsyuk, Kulemin/Zherdev, Volchenkov, Gonchar, Bryzgalov, and Varlamov. Although if Feds is still playing by then, the Olympics would be an even more fitting conclusion to his international career. MaxV 05-19-2008, 02:06 PM Perhaps Filatov too. God 05-19-2008, 02:08 PM Most of the ones in the current NHL that aren't too old. Morozov, and any other RSL star. If there's one thing I'll give the Russians, it's showing up for your country. Which wasnt the case for some time. Fortunatly though, Tretiak fixed than. Den 05-19-2008, 02:47 PM I think Dats, Malkin, Zubov, Frolov (if he performs), Gonchar and Volchenkov MaxV 05-19-2008, 03:14 PM If Sergei Samsonov continues to play the way he did for the Canes last season, perhaps he too could find his way on the team. I'm not a big fan of his though. EDIT: Sorry, there is no such team as Carolina Panthers in hockey. Kaktus 05-19-2008, 03:20 PM If Sergei Samsonov continues to play the way he did for the Panthers last season, perhaps he too could find his way on the team. I'm not a big fan of his though. I'll take Kovalev instead. Den 05-19-2008, 04:04 PM If Sergei Samsonov continues to play the way he did for the Canes last season, perhaps he too could find his way on the team. I'm not a big fan of his though. EDIT: Sorry, there is no such team as Carolina Panthers in hockey. Really doubt it Hackett 05-19-2008, 04:45 PM kovalev will be about 37 years of age at the time of the olympics. Even if he's still bringing it, there's somebody in russian management that doesn't like him, for whatever reason. He went from the captain of the team for a few years, to not even being selected. In the 2006 olympics, when bure was named GM of russia, I remember kovalev had something like: I dont play for the GM, I could care less who he is, I play for my country. I assume there is still some management around from 2006, and I guess there has been some friction that has slowly eroded the relationship. Paxton Fettel 05-19-2008, 04:51 PM Malkin, Datsyuk, Frolov, Gonchar and Volchenkov for sure. Bryzgalov. Zubov will definitely play for Bykov if he's invited. Dima87* 05-19-2008, 06:35 PM Bryzgalov definatley as the back up. Mr_Jones* 05-19-2008, 06:55 PM Anyone know why Frolov didn't play in the WC? Zine 05-19-2008, 06:56 PM G Bryzgalov D Gonchar Volchenkov Atyushov Zubov (if not too old) F Malkin Datsyuk Frolov Kovalev (if not too old) Zherdev Nepryaev as the defensive forward spoon* 05-19-2008, 07:24 PM Volchenkov? Defensive D-man? Any chance? Den 05-19-2008, 07:37 PM Atyushov Oh, yeah, forgot about this one. Would have been here if not for the injury. Zherdev Not a single chance. Who is he gonna replace? Nepryaev as the defensive forward A possibility u8mylife47 05-19-2008, 08:30 PM This could be the ideal roster: Ovechkin - Malkin - Semin Kovalchuk - Datsyuk - Kovalev Frolov - Zinoviev - Morozov Svitov - Fedorov - Neprayev (defensive line) (extras: Afinogenov, Zherdev, Cherepanov, Zaripov) Zubov - Volchenkov A.Markov - D.Markov Tyutin - Gonchar (Extras: Kalinin, Grebeshkov, Zhitnik) Nabokov Bryzgalov Varlamov/Eremenko Again, these lines likely won't happen.. but they would be ideal IMO. I'm probably forgetting someone important. Berkut 05-19-2008, 11:41 PM Not a single chance. Who is he gonna replace? Afinogenov for instance. Harv 05-20-2008, 12:06 AM What's the beef with Zubov and the team? He always said he won't play for them. Any reason? Kaktus 05-20-2008, 09:36 AM What about Yashin? on 4th line if Fedorov does not play. RusskiyHockey 05-20-2008, 12:54 PM What's the beef with Zubov and the team? He always said he won't play for them. Any reason? Firstly, he's a U.S. citizen, although that doesn't stop Fedorov. And like Mogilny, he wouldn't like being an old guy who takes the roster spot of a youngster who worked the whole season just to make the national team. bert 05-20-2008, 01:05 PM Oh, yeah, forgot about this one. Would have been here if not for the injury. Not a single chance. Who is he gonna replace? A possibility Guess you didnt watch him much this season but he was absolutely dominant. I would certainly take him over Afinegenov in a second. bert 05-20-2008, 01:09 PM This could be the ideal roster: Ovechkin - Federov - Semin Kovalchuk - Malkin - Kovalev Zherdev - Datsyuk - Radulov Frolov - Zinoviev - Morozov (extras: Afinogenov, Neprayev, Cherepanov, Yashin, Samsonov, Zaripov, Svitov) Zubov - Volchenkov A.Markov - D.Markov Tyutin - Gonchar (Extras: Kalinin, Grebeshkov, Zhitnik) Nabokov Bryzgalov Khabibulin Hard time seeing anyone beating that team good lord. pouskin74 05-20-2008, 03:18 PM Anyone know why Frolov didn't play in the WC? injured Dima87* 05-20-2008, 03:40 PM This could be the ideal roster: Ovechkin - Federov - Semin Kovalchuk - Malkin - Kovalev Zherdev - Datsyuk - Radulov Frolov - Zinoviev - Morozov (extras: Afinogenov, Neprayev, Cherepanov, Yashin, Samsonov, Zaripov, Svitov) Zubov - Volchenkov A.Markov - D.Markov Tyutin - Gonchar (Extras: Kalinin, Grebeshkov, Zhitnik) Nabokov Bryzgalov Khabibulin Hard time seeing anyone beating that team good lord. The speed and skill on this team is just ridiculous. Blank 05-20-2008, 03:51 PM If Fedorov makes it to Vancouver he'll be in the 3rd line. He's still a great player and WC showed that he still has it, but in 2010 and a 1st line center? Make the centers Malkin-Dats-Feds and its pretty solid. tony d 05-20-2008, 05:11 PM Malkin, Gonchar and Datsyuk would be my top 3 choices. Den 05-20-2008, 09:26 PM Guess you didnt watch him much this season but he was absolutely dominant. I would certainly take him over Afinegenov in a second. No, I did not watch him. But Afinogenov has a reputation of a stable performer in all WCh's, not the brainiest of guys of course, but I think this will put him over Zherdev. Den 05-20-2008, 09:28 PM What about Yashin? on 4th line if Fedorov does not play. Likely the centers will be Malkin, Dats, Zina and one of Brylin/some RSLer. Yash is not in any role for the 4-th line RusskiyHockey 05-20-2008, 09:33 PM If Tereshchenko keeps up his play and becomes a regular on Bykov's Eurotour tours and next year's WC, then I'd pick him on the Olympic squad to be the 4th centre. | ||
