I'm driving to QC tonight and was wondering while I am there, where can I find the best Poutine in and around QC...

Also, in Trois Rivieres- I'll be there next week... any good Poutine shops there?

Personally I love the Ashton poutine. It's a local fast food chain, so you can find many in the city

There is no bad poutine.

La Belle Province is a chain of Quebec restaurants that serve up a fine poutine, I'm sure you'll stumble over more than a few of those in your travels.

truer words never spoken. If you're going for a couple of days try a different one each day. Have a chain-store one, then the next day a small, single store poutine

Ashton's is amazing!
But also if you're gona be anywhere close to a town called Warwick, theres this place Iduno what its called, but the ppl i was with said that the Poutine originated from there. It was beside some gas station, and across the street from a Dominion i think it was... Warwick is really small so someone who knows Warwick might know...

Is poutine really good? I go to this Montreal based restaurant here in California all the time because the food is good and they show all the hockey games. I have wanted to try the poutine but I never have gotten a chance to. I do love the imported smoked meats directly from Montreal though.

Québec: Chez Ashton (http://www.chez-ashton.com/) (there's quite a few)
No contest. And don't go to La belle province, it sucks.

Trois-Rivières: Chez Gambrinus - not a traditional poutine, but they used to serve a poutine with a sauce made with beer, delicious. Don't know if they still do.

And you might pass near Drummondville: Monsieur Poutine (take an extra mushrooms).

And of course, if you get near Montreal, you have many great choices: La Banquise, Orange Julep, Lafleur (there is a lot of Lafleur restaurants and not all of them are very good, but the ones that are have a great poutine).

I second Drummondville, I have had some excellent poutine there. Although finding someone who speaks english in Drummondville is harder than finding people who speak english in QC. Not that its a big problem, since poutine is poutine. But if you don't speak french, just be aware.

Best Poutines?
BCO ; Beef, Mushrooms (Champignons), Onions (All-time best)
Expos ; Green and Red Pepper, Onions and Mushroom

In order to get this you have to get to VICTORIAVILLE. There ain't a restaurant that doesn't serve poutine. Some restaurants also make their own cheese.

If you can't get to Victoriaville, you can get a poutine at La Belle Province, they're pretty good. Don't worry about the language thing since the workers are usually greek.

If you're talking about Redondo Beach Cafe, their poutine... eh, it's not horrible, but doesn't compare to the stuff in Quebec.

As for poutine in Quebec City, you have to go to Chez Ashton. It's not the best poutine I ever had, but it's pretty damn good. La Banquise, for the win!

I love the stuff. Had it for the first time last year when I was up there for Can/Am and thought it was great.

Banquise = overrated

You can't beat the poutine of a small town named Ste-Adele..."La patate a mononcle"

Well...it's not sushi. It's good fastfood. Probably the best way to eat fries.

Well that can be debated. The cheese and sauce can mess up a poutine.

..or simply dumb people. I know a person that puts ketchup on her poutine. I am thinking about shunning her.

it starts and end with Ashton.

Or if you get by Victoriaville, by all means, stop at La Fromagerie Victoria. Don't know about opening hours in the weekend (or if it's open at all) though.

Yeah, that's where I was talking about. I guess it's like the pizza in New York, there are places who try out here but they just can't make it like New York. I'll give it a try next time I'm there.

La belle province's poutine is quite disgusting...
When i was young, every time i went out of bars i stopped at the Belle Province where i ate a poutine before heading to my place, shameful. One time i stoped at the Belle Province during day time after an interview, and i just couldn't eat the poutine... my body wouldn't allow me. Belle Province might be the most disgusting food chain in the world... unless your high or drunk you wont be able to eat it and you might get sick every time.
