Great Interview by Roger Musa and Jared Ramsden....Brooklyndevil 05-14-2008, 10:22 AM Good read. Thanks Jared and Roger! http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=15301 britdevil 05-14-2008, 10:30 AM Ahh, Jared, what would we do without you? I agree with you about moving in the draft, and if they could land Zach Boychuk, that would be great. Then again, I wouldnt be too upset if they stand-pat and draft Josh Bailey, John Carlsson or Arron Ness. Brooklyndevil 05-14-2008, 10:33 AM Ahh, Jared, what would we do without you? That would be awesome if Lou could make a move like that. britdevil 05-14-2008, 10:47 AM Me too. That would be awesome if Lou could make a move like that. Its deffinately not impossible. Jared knows his stuff, so if he thinks NJ is in good shape to make a move like that, then you better believe its crossed Lou's mind. Even if we do end up picking John Carlsson, who is slated to go 21st, then that also would be a very good pick. BigE7 05-14-2008, 10:58 AM Its deffinately not impossible. One of my college friends plays hockey with his brother and his brother told him something to the affect of one of their family members (I wanna say the father) is friends with someone in the organization and the Devils told them they'd be drafting Carlsson. britdevil 05-14-2008, 11:04 AM I've heard back in September/October that Carlsson is going to be the Devils pick. Good news. Only problem I see, is those damn Rangers right above us. It would be just like them to draft Carlson, completely out of spite. Game Breaker 05-14-2008, 03:09 PM Good news. Only problem I see, is those damn Rangers right above us. It would be just like them to draft Carlson, completely out of spite. Which would effectively move us up one spot in the draft... Even if we do end up picking John Carlsson, who is slated to go 21st, then that also would be a very good pick. It just makes too much sense this year, with the draft class being as deep as it is. Just like when the Devils snagged Parise back in '03, there is bound to be a player or two that will slip down the board a bit. I really could see the Devils making a jump into the middle of the first round if there is a particular player (like Boychuk) that they didn't think would be available, sitting there. Getting a star quality player in the first round isn't imperative, but I think this is as good a year as any for the Devils to make a big splash in the 1st round. Devilswede 05-14-2008, 07:17 PM Good read, like always...but it's really not anything that we already didn't know or haven't heard before from Jared before. So I wouldn't want to give anyone from hockeybuzz too much credit for that one. ;) Well, with the Devils, they often take the safe route by drafting the "best available" player. I would respectfully disagree with that one. The Devils usually don't pick the "best player" available, they usually pick the "best player available for the New Jersey Devils". A pick like Corrente is an example of that, who at at time was a surprise first round pick. Most people thought he'd be a late 2:nd/third round pick. The same can probably be said for Zajac, Hale etc.... Perhaps saying they take the best available player according to their draft board would be a better way of putting it. vadvlfan 05-15-2008, 06:24 PM I think sutter will be at Lou's right hand at the draft. Lou will let sutter take over as GM, (after this year) and lou will continue to have strong hand on the rudder as president. I think we we'll see new faces in our scouting staff as well. We need some fresh thinking. Drafting 21st overall, (even if we don't move up in the draft) should still net us a quality player. We need more depth up front for sure. | ||
