The 1987-88 Team: Where Are They Now?

Pardon the interruption of all the discussion about the future, but after looking at this feature on the Devils web site I thought it worth posting here. I know I'm not alone in having become a big Devils fan largely because of this team, so it's cool as a longtime fan to reminisce a bit and see where people wound up. But it's also a great testament to some of the fantastic moves this franchise has made, as the descriptions of where people are now include trades and signings that helped lay the foundation for the Devils' later greatness. I think most of us know that we got Stevens as compensation for the Blues signing Shanny, but fewer probably have in the fronts of their minds that we were able to pick Nieds third overall in 1991 as a result of trading Tom Kurvers to Toronto, or that we acquired Holik and the second-round pick that netted Pando in 1992 by trading Sean Burke and Eric Weinrich to Hartford. Here's the link if you want to take a look:

Was this your favourite trade ever RG? ;)

The native of Kingston, Ontario, was sent to Montreal with Rollie Melanson in 1991 for Stephane Richer and Tom Chorske. He is currently an assistant coach with the Canadiens.

"He recently completed his 20th season as a player."

That's awesome.

I'm surprised they mentioned the Miracle on Ice for Jack O'Callahan, but not for Mark Johnson; especially with him being the team leading scorer and his dramatic first goal against Tretiak in the medal round.

Good piece though. Thanks for the link.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised by that too, but I guess there was a lot less to say about OC as a Devil than there was about Johnson, so it took center stage in his profile.
