Brandon Bochenski

I really think the devils should go out and get him for next to nothing...I mean no nhl team has really given him a chance and he has proved at every level that he can score goals...plus when he was with parise at UND he tore it up...parise elias bochenski could put up huge numbers in my opinon

I wanted the Devils to pick him up when he was on waivers.

i'm not disagreeing...

but he's been on OTT, Chic, Bos, Anaheim, Nashville... I'm not saying he's had the best opportunities for TOI, but what he has had, he hasn't capitalized, he's not a great finisher and hasn't fully committed to a two-way game... at least, that's my opinion.

but, for next to nothing, the reward is greater than the risk. he does have skill, I just don't think he has put it all together, and still think it is possible. I think the line combo of Elias, Parise, Bochenski wouldn't be a bad combo...

It's proven but that's besides the point. Anyway, He's proven he's scored at every level.... except the NHL. He had one flukey run with the Bruins last year. Other than that, he's been waiver fodder. Jason Krog 2.0. He won't solve anything.

There's a reason this guy has never been able to stay on one team for a longer period of time.

So, no thanks.

Not a big fan of Bo's when he was on the Bruins...maybe he didn't fit into the style Julien implemented, but he was non-existant on D and he doesn't hit.

I don't think it's a coincidence that this many teams passed on him. He's too good for minors, not good enough for the NHL. The league is littered with players like that.

Exactly. I don't remember exactly but you guys were one of the 3 worst offensive teams in the NHL this year in terms of goals scored. If Bochenski is the Devils' response to the pathetic 2007-2008 offense then there are serious issues. I'm not suggesting you guys should, can, or will get an elite talent like Hossa or Campbell or whatever, but Bochenski should be #12412 on the list.

He's one of those guys that can't play as a bottom six player and he's not good enough to be a top six player at the highest level. He'd certainly help Lowell, but the Jason Krog comparison is apt.

Yeah, if our offense could've been more like the Rangers' offense we would've been fine. After all, the Rangers did score 7 goals more than the Devils this year. The Rangers offense was on fire. Hopefully we can be more like them next year. :sarcasm:

When did I ever insert a single Rangers reference? When did I ever bash the Devils? I don't think it's a secret that the Devils did not have an efficient offense this year. If you do want to talk about the Rangers, then the Devils solving their scoring issues by adding Bochenski is like the Rangers solving their PP issues by adding Jeff Jillson.

If we can sign him to under $600,000, then what the hell, might as well give a chance. If he doesn't work out, put on waivers. Maybe he'll make Lowell not suck balls.

"Pathetic 2007-2008 offense"..?

Although true, but it's not like the Rangers' offense was better. You did try to take a subtle jab at the Devils there, and I guess I didn't like it.

I'm allergic to the Rangers and their fans...that's definitely not a secret around here.

I wasn't taking a jab. It's no secret the offense was pathetic. Just like the Rangers PP was pathetic. And the Kings goaltending was pathetic. And the Lightning's defense was pathetic. And the Maple Leafs PK was pathetic. There is no bashing of any teams involved. Facts are facts. How come if a Devils fan said the offense sucked it's a valid point but if a Rangers fan says it then suddenly he's just trolling? My point was that it's pretty obvious that Lou needs to make changes to the offense this offseason and if the end result is Brandon Bochenski then there are serious issues.

you guys would absolutely hate Bochenski.

he was awful in Julien's system..just imagine him in yours..

theres a reason why he's been on 4 teams in 2 years.

I dont know what type of team speed you possess but if you acquire Brandon Bochenski you need to know that at times he skates like he has bricks attached to his feet.

The guy also doesn't contribute much to any aspect of the game.

It still shocks me that Boston gave us Veersteeg for him.

Got no problem with what you said. You call it like you see it and I have no problem with you saying something like that, because it's absolutely true.

If Lou is going to be relying on guys like Brandon Bochenski to help out the offense next season, I've completely lost faith in him. Teams with good offenses can take a flyer on him because if he doesn't work out, hey, doesn't hurt them one way or another. But if a guy like Bochenski succeeds on a club like, say, Detroit, then the rich become richer.

But it's a gamble that Lou shouldn't take.

Is our situation that dire that a career AHLer would be instantly elevated to first line status?

The Bruins traded him because he could not play their new defensive system very well. Can someone explain how playing on the Devils would be any different?
