Go to Oak Tree Rd, eat Indian food, and get food poisoning so you can go home. SCOTTIESTEVENS 05-10-2008, 04:40 PM Edison sucks. Go to Oak Tree Rd, eat Indian food, and get food poisoning so you can go home. That pretty much sums it up. Ronnie Bass 05-10-2008, 05:46 PM Why are you guys staying at a hotel so far from NYC? BTW, that Clarion is a pretty good hotel, my brother had his wedding reception there. Muttley 05-10-2008, 06:29 PM Is this summer band camp? ;) You are very far away from anything exciting to see, but I'm sure the hotel rates are much cheaper there in Edison as opposed to Manhattan. Free things to do: Try to sneak away from your chaperone and take a walk down St. Mark's Place. Take a walk over to Tompkins Square Park and curse the yuppies who have ruined the neighborhood. Walk through Washington Square Park and enjoy what is left of the bohemian life. IMPORTANTLY::teach: Make sure to avoid the area between 31st & 33rd streets/between 7th & 8th Avenues at all costs!!! There is nothing worthwhile or relevant there!!! Enjoy your trip and as you are riding up the NJ Turnpike into Manhattan, look for the Prudential Center on your left in downtown Newark. Muttley 05-10-2008, 10:01 PM Oh and I almost forgot. Stay away from the Conde Nast erector set looking skyscraper if you are in midtown. A certain 15 goal NHL "star" will be doing his summer internship with Vogue magazine (and stealing the opportunity away from a more deserving candidate) and if you happen to unfortunately run into him, you might have a sudden urge to paint your fingernails black. "Come to scenic Staten Island...New York City's forgotten borough" On the plus side, there's a couple good music stores in Edison. You could make the local Sam Ash store very happy. }:-)> The Mad Crapper 05-11-2008, 07:21 AM If you want to know what NJ is all about (in a food way) you MUST make the trip here: White Rose System - (732) 777-1881 -154 Woodbridge Ave, Highland Park, NJ 08904 Google Map it for directions. Your hotel is about 2-3 miles away & if you love hamburgers, and farting alot afterwards...this is the place!!! Worth the $15 round trip cab fare spilt amongst friends. DevsOwnYou 05-11-2008, 11:16 AM In Edison, there is the Menlo Park Mall on Route-1, that's about it in Edison. DEFINITELY do that. I got a pastrami sandwich, with a pound of hot pastrami and 1/4 lb of swiss cheese. It was bliss. Das Uber 05-11-2008, 03:05 PM Isn't Harold's Deli in Edison? DEFINITELY do that. I got a pastrami sandwich, with a pound of hot pastrami and 1/4 lb of swiss cheese. It was bliss. There's another idea...Heart attack, food poisioning, whatever. Just find a way to leave ASAP. daveskirtun 05-11-2008, 04:44 PM You can visit my Aunt and Uncle if you want Das Uber 05-11-2008, 04:54 PM You should call a cab and ask him to take you to all the places in the opening of The Sopranos. frankiedue 05-11-2008, 06:19 PM hi, my school band is going to NYC next week for a few days and were staying at the Clarion Hotel & Tower in Edison NJ, is there anything nearby it? As in walking distance. There really isn't anything in walking distance that you would want to visit. Supposedly, your hotel has a free shuttle to Menlo Park Mall (http://www.simon.com/mall/default.aspx?ID=113), so that is a realistic destination for you. You could eat at the chessecake factory, see a movie, go shopping, maybe meet some 15 year old american girls, etc. ILikeItVeryMuch 05-11-2008, 07:43 PM There's another idea...Heart attack, food poisioning, whatever. Just find a way to leave ASAP. The best sandwich hands down is the Dublin Decker from Scully's in Newark. Game Breaker 05-11-2008, 08:14 PM Where exactly in the city are you playing? I work on park and 51st and there isn't much to necessarily "see," but if you want to spend money, definitely hang out around there...:sarcasm: | ||
