vadvlfan 05-03-2008, 11:22 AM Wonder if there was any interest on lou's part? It's really a crap shoot, because apparently he won't sign a 2 way contract. So if he doesn't pan out, you take his cap hit, he sits in the press box. Then again, he may possibly live up to some of the hype. I heard Pierre Maguire say he's only seen tape, and didn't see anything extraordinary in the guy. Dev's were never mentioned as a possible destination.
Then again, why would he entertain a team, like Detroit where he has little chance of cracking the line up?? With Brunnstrom its' like Forrest Gump, you never know what you're gonna git! Some guys play well in Euro super leagues, but flop in North America. But with our lack of resources on the farm, he will probably be an upgrade, and worthy of atleast an interview.
Louy hasn't returned any of my phone calls just yet
Das Uber 05-03-2008, 11:26 AM We already have one underachieving Swede, I don't want to possibly bring on another.

With a 1-way, you can send him to the minors.
You'd just have to pay him his full salary.

:handclap:
Lou isnt much into crap shoots anyway.

Obviously all Swedes are the same.
This pathetic team needs offense but Lou wouldn't possibly pursue common sense.
Systemfel 05-03-2008, 01:45 PM It's really a crap shoot, because apparently he won't sign a 2 way contract.Yes, he will since ELC's always include two-way clauses.
Now, Brunnström isn't one of Europe's top players, he's not even the best forward on his SEL team, but he's got good potential to become a good 2nd line winger in the NHL. He's not going to come in and score 70 points as a rookie, though.

I don't think he's going to sign an ELC, is he?

brilliant comment... the Devils will most likely never draft or sign a Swedish forward ever again based on the fact that a late first round pick a few years ago is not in the NHL yet.

In another thread, you already wanted Lou to overpay to keep Rafalski here for a ridiculous amount of money for a long time and now you advocate signing such a risky forward and taking up even more precious salary cap space?

Pretending all Swedes are all the same is lazy scouting.

agree. the red wings dont seem to have a prob finding gems over there.

LOL:laugh:
Devils are not pathetic, just boring defensive strong, that would be a nice change for the Rangers. Devils need no swede, swede´s are not trained for just one way! well, most of them. They are playing responsbility. Thinking defense too.
britdevil 05-03-2008, 03:00 PM is overrated.
guyincognito 05-03-2008, 03:18 PM This guy is the product of idiotic hype. His agent should get a 200% raise. Way too many warning signs with all of his ridiculous demands.
MartyOwns 05-03-2008, 03:21 PM i would rather see andrew brunette. we could probably sign him for <3.5 million per season, and would add some experience and skill into our lineup. ufa.
RMBoner Stabone 05-03-2008, 03:40 PM This guy reminds me of that Finnish guy we had last year. He was a "Devils or Bust" type guy who couldn't handle Lowell.
I read somewhere on this board on one of the countless thousands of threads on him is that he's a poor man's version of Hossa. Bleech to him and his self annointed importance. There hasn't been this kind of hype and or foolery since the movie "the Rookie" where Brendan Fraser "picked" his team.
Randal Graves 05-03-2008, 03:53 PM He's gonna sign with Vancouver anyways.. but still, don't want him with those demands. On this team players don't make demands.. if they do, they're not gonna be around much longer.

As it should be.
Systemfel 05-03-2008, 06:23 PM I don't think he's going to sign an ELC, is he?What else is he supposed to sign?
About Brunnströms "demands," I don't think they are really that extravagant. He probably just wants to get a chance in an offensive role with some power play time for, say 10 games. If it doesn't work out, he'll go back to Sweden for the rest of the year.

And why would you give a roster spot to someone who is going to bolt if he doesn't get his way?
I mean, what you just put out *is* a ridiculous demand.

If he was really that good, some team would have locked him up by now. I have nothing against Swede's, I just don't see why we should jump through flaming hoops to sign a kid who isn't guaranteed to do **** once he gets to the NHL. It's a big gamble, and we can't afford to take one. However, I'd have no problem if we jumped through several flaming hoops in a cougar costume to draft Viktor Hedman next year.
This guy reminds me of that Finnish guy we had last year. He was a "Devils or Bust" type guy who couldn't handle Lowell.
So Brunnström has injured his back too?

Brunnstrom wants a rookie max contract and GUARANTEED top six ice time. I'd say that's a little extravagant. Sorry, but I have to agree with a few other scouts who have said that he had a great start to the SEL season, slowed down in the 2nd half, and completely disappeared come playoff time.
Yeah, the Devils might need an injection of offense, but Lou and David Conte aren't idiots either. You can bet that they've probably seen Brunnstrom and if he's disappeared at playoff time, then they probably want no part of him.
Look at the type of players that the Devils draft for the most part. They're usually players who have won at junior level and know what it takes to win and play in a playoff atmosphere. I'd trust the decisions Lou is making with regards to the team. You can bet that when the Devils draft this year, there's going to be a premium placed on offensive players.
