OT: IronmanJimmyDevil 05-02-2008, 10:24 AM Go See It. It's Amazing! Devilsfanatic 05-02-2008, 10:39 AM Looks fantastic, but will probably end up looking like a pile of puke once The Dark Knight is released. Was talking about the difference bwtween the 2 Comic book makers DC and Marvel and the problem I have with DC is that they tried to create a whole new world so to speak. Where is this Gotham City they refer to for the Batman series? Or how about Metropolis for the Superman series? With this new world they have to create cities on a set that do not give it a real feel to it where as in the Marvel Comics they use actual names and towns and that to me provides alot more realisim to the movies they have done recently. That said, what they have done to the Batman charachter and movies has been such a blessing. I'm a fan of the charachter, but not when they do it in a hokey sort of way and when they put a more serious face on the charachter, I think they can go more places with him and thus do more things with him. Actually looking forward to seeing Heath Ledger play the Joker. Nothing but great reviews on his performance. Devilsfanatic 05-02-2008, 06:57 PM Iron Man > Dark Knight :biglaugh: no way. brylin18 05-02-2008, 10:01 PM This movie sucked. Devils Pride 26 05-02-2008, 10:13 PM  When I first saw this, I thought this thread was going to be about the indoor soccer team that plays in the Rock. Plato 05-02-2008, 10:15 PM Saw it today. Did not like it at all. I mean he literally spends 90 minutes building the suit... Just my opinion though. deewally23 05-03-2008, 12:55 AM  When I first saw this, I thought this thread was going to be about the indoor soccer team that plays in the Rock. haha me too  BenedictGomez 05-03-2008, 12:57 AM The promotional commercials looked SO terrible I just assumed the movie was awful? No? Sportacus 05-03-2008, 12:58 AM I saw it today. In terms of quality, it was somewhere between Spiderman 3 and Spiderman 1. njdevsfn95 05-03-2008, 01:12 AM I saw it today. In terms of quality, it was somewhere between Spiderman 3 and Spiderman 1. so was it better or worse than Spiderman 2? :sarcasm: frankiedue 05-03-2008, 02:35 AM Just saw it... thought it was pretty good for a comic book movie. I thought robert downey jr played the role very well. I don't mind him taking a while to build the suit... it would have been boring and senseless to just see him flying around and destroying stuff right from the start. you have to build up to it. i also would not compare this movie to batman. iron man is meant to be campy while it seems dark night is more dark and serious fIREnIcE 05-03-2008, 06:22 AM well i can honestly say that this is MY AREA!!!(i do hold a certain position which enables me to work with NHL players when they come to the island which i am privlaged but many take the rumblings or hearsay and such that i might get wind of with a grain of salt....i knew of the smyth trade, asham signing and the ken klee trade before anyone else yet at the same time got some bad info about gomer before anyone else, he really even lied to the team as I went on record saying that he wasnt interested in the rangers but he flat out lied to the org....I also caught major heat about the DP getting hurt in the ASG saying how management wanted him to sit the rest out, I know there is a lot of people that give wrong info but I am not one of them)..... Regaurdless I grew up with my father owning more than 3 comic/card/video stores and cant help but say I was 80/20 on the movie....I saw it on Wednesday which was pretty rad but felt that the story which had so much potential was given too many oppertunites to go a stray(loved the pressence of a future War Machiene & SHEILD(stay passsed the credits), U know even though it tried at times to stay real to the real orgins it just broke away to many times for my taste....I hold it in higher regard as most have said than spiderman 3 and i must say x-men 3 which had such great potential but ego's of the actors got int he way of what the producer's and director wanted to do.....it was a good comic book movie many must understand it is so hard to translate a comic book to the big screen jsut look at all the flops in the 80's : the punisher-best of the bunch ouch the fantastic four- omg if you cna buy this on ebay liek i did do t jsut for laughs capyain America- while I really think they tried they could have done better yet it was cool that it was prob the best attempt to stay close to the story of the orginal comic book, it just didnt have the budget Im sure when marvel goes to make it it will be huge, IMHO look to see this when the war is over From what I hear from a very close contact this movie has sold on the level with the last star wars with eery showing sold out isnce 8am! Look for big bucks from this movie and great job by RDJ and and the rest of the cast go see it! fIREnIcE 05-03-2008, 06:34 AM from what I heard the new "Incredible" Hulk (the 03 version wasnt that bad, I thought the acting and CGI was greatit just lacked a solid script, I hink they were just riding the comic book/movie craze) and Dark Knght are going to be GREAT!!!!! heres to hopign we can forget ghost rider, elcrctra and FF2! Das Uber 05-04-2008, 02:24 AM Just got back...****ing brilliant. I loved this movie. Robert Downey Jr was perfect. I can't wait until Dark Knight comes out. Whoever said this movie sucked, I don't think we were watching the same movie. Phenomonal movie. LetsGoDevils 05-04-2008, 03:07 AM You have to wait through the entire credits of the movie. All the credits, and you'll see the best scene in the movie hands down. Amazing. britdevil 05-04-2008, 05:56 AM Iron Man > Dark Knight ;). I see what you done there. I've always felt that Superman, Batman and other DC comics were written for little kiddies and Marvel had the more realistic human stories. But of course those lines blurred over the years. Still, while I do like Batman, I prefer all the Marvel superheros and characters. My favorite Marvel character was Ilyana Rasputin, also know as Magik, Peter's (Colossus) little sister who was kidnapped by a demon sorcerer into a limbo dimension and turned into a sorceress. Anyway just went to see Ironman today, it was super cool. While it didn't follow the old story, I think this more modernized version was a good update and appeals to the current generation. They didn't try to explain the technology too much which was great, where the old ironman comics had some lame explaination about magnetism which was way too easy to disprove. Also, a black Nick Fury? Now I've seen everything. fIREnIcE 05-06-2008, 05:39 AM Heh, I'm a giant X-man freak and obviously I prefer Marvel. Also, a black Nick Fury? Now I've seen everything. magik wa a great storyline(in fact many great story lines are about the rsputings in all marvel realms, he is really one of the best characters i think and given really no credit at all0....but ifelt they really dropped the ball with that whole storyline it was great and seemed to really just bomb. Due to the popularity of the character of heard on the inside they tied to model blnk after her....but that didnt seem to work out to well.. I agree with you Marvel really was more edgy even in jsut the fact of not giving fake names to cities although batman has to be one of the greatest characters ever and what frank miller did for him was brillant...sopossedly(sp) nick fury was to be played by the guy from tremors forgot his name which he always to me reminded me of him....hell they could have used an older dolph lungren but who knows what he looks like now a days, this for sure wwe will know nick fury will be yelling a whole lot anyways my brother scored me a very cool limitied a edition ironman paramount t shirt that came one to every theater as w4ell asw all the posters(I am lucky i have pretty much all the comic posters including some very rare Hl dark knight ones....i have to say the prize in my posestion is that of robert downey junior in black face for that new movie that is coming out apprently it offended so many people there are only liek 100 or so in circulation, the film company was able to pull many back! Wish I had that huge hulk anyone else see that in their theaters, but the studios will be collecting those and think will be sending them to PH's around the world...damn cant win everything. But you'd all be suprised the market for some of these posters banners and giveaways some are so rare its amazing. britdevil 05-06-2008, 05:54 AM Superman is a queer. You can't blame him, it was back in the 70's and everyone was experimenting with something. He's an absolute bad ass now though. Oh and Spiderman is definitely a vag, especially after he became emo last year and acted like a total douchenozzle. britdevil 05-06-2008, 11:39 AM Batman used to have a thing for Robin. Also, a black Nick Fury? Now I've seen everything. Illyana was one of my favorite characters too. They are hinting about bringing her back by the by. As for the movie, I thought they did a great job. I think modernizing the story was the way to go and Downey was fantastic. They also combined a few story lines well - Stane taking over Stark industries, dressing Stane in a Titanium Man type armor, and a bit of the armor wars feel the way stark didn't want anyone using his technology anymore. Great job - I also liked the foreshadowing of War Machine and the Mandarin. Only kind of meh character was Paltrow's. Oh and in the ultimate universe Fury is black - and looks exactly like Samuel Jackson - hence the scene at the end. I have always preferred Marvel to DC - Wonder Woman is the only DC character I read regularly. Batman without Robin is great but with Robin I find him boring and Superman is just to unbeatable for me to enjoy all the time. I only read them in JLA. Das Uber 05-06-2008, 11:43 AM Worst. Movie. I mean *** dude, this is Spideys ultimate nemesis. Not to mention turning him into an emo, vaginal, slef hating, skinny jeans wearing, turd-muncher. Im getting pretty sick of the whole, kill off the bad guy vibe in some of these super hero movies too. The Jersey Devil 05-06-2008, 11:50 AM Exactly. If they decided to bring the character back they could find a way to explain him just vanishing. Even Doc Ock's arms could have carried him out of the water when he was unconcious at the end of 2 - there is always a way. The Wachowski brothers should do a superhero film. I know it would never happen, as they arent complete sell-outs, but can you imagine how visually stunning they could make Spiderman?? Awesome. Well I believe Marvel has opened up their own production company and will be pumping out their own films now with no involvement from other studios. Iron Man was the first to be made entirely by Marvel and it was GREAT. I hope this trend continues. Word on the street is that the Spiderman crew does not want to make a 4th film but maybe if Sony's not involved and the script doesn't totally suck ass, they'll give it a whirl.
