ESPN and Sportsnet are both reporting Philly has traded for Sean Burke. Early reports are that the main pieces are Comrie adn Burke. This a huge upgrade for Philly in nets and opens up a center spot next year for Carter.

Great news for Eastern Conference playoff teams. Hextall...Snow... Cechmanek...Hackett... Come June, Burke will either be known as a GOD or the next goalie to be run out of Philly.

Wow!!! That certiantly makes things interesting in the Eastern conference. Can't believe that they got rid of Comrie that fast.

Burke has been a huge playoff choke ever since his miarcle run with the Devils. Horrible move for philly ... they should have just hoped Esche kept his play up.

Maybe there was some truth to those reports that Hitchcock really wasn't all that happy with Comrie's performances afterall. Thought he was a big advocate of bringing him in though having seen him play in the Western Conference quite a bit when he coached the Stars.

Can 21 games be enough to dislike a player? Keep in mind he missed the first several months of the season. :dunno:

Hitch said he knew Comrie's father since they were kids when he was traded from EDM.

Clarke sure knows how to surprise Philly fans. I guess as a Devils fan, I'm used to Lou pulling trades out of no where. Luckly, Lou's trades often work out. ;)

How many games did Tikkanen play for us? Although that was a funny trade, we get him for a 3rd. We trade him for a 2nd a few weeks later.

After visiting both the Rangers and Flyers forums I can't decide who wants to lynch their GM more, and smack in the middle of these two teams are us with maybe the best GM in sports. On a day like today it's good to be a Devils fan. :D

We've ran out of goats unfortunatly...

Perhaps we can find some turkeys.

Oh wait, Bob Clarke IS a turkey. :rolly:

It must be nice to be able to deal a player like Comrie because of a logjam at center. That's a luxury very few teams can say they have.

Burke would just be a backup to Esche though. At least that's what the consensus is. I don't really understand the logic here considering Burke was shelled in Philly during his first stay there. Never underestimate Clarke's mind though.

Esche is expected to be out 3+ weeks. That's a lot of games, 10 if he only misses three weeks. Who knows how long it might take for Esche to get near 100%.

I wonder who Comrie is going to play with in Phoenix......Taffe would be a good bet IMO.

Not bad, but I still wonder about your boy at times, he makes more trades than some of the guys in my fantasy league.

The difference between Clarke and say Sather for example is that he fills the need right away, instead of *****ing around and looking for that next high paid ego to accomplish nothing. Got to give him credit for that, sure he makes a lot of trades, but he is making the necessary adjustments to make this team contend with the likes of Jersey and Ottawa. We'll see if it works out tonight in Philly. 4 pt night boys, let the bashin begin!

This is going to be a real tough one for us tonight, it always seems like when a player gets traded to a new team that first game with them they play well, real well. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if Burke stands on top of his head tonight.

I don't believe that Burke is starting tonight. 610 WIP in Philly, is reporting that Niittymaki will get the start.
