I was just wondering about possible back ups for Marty, fvor the stretch run, to give Marty a break, of this list who do you see the Devils having as back up
Clemmenson
Shwabby
Brathwaite (CBJ)
Tugnutt (I believe he's a FA)
Fernandez (MIN)
Johnson (STL)
Mclennan (CAL)
Aubin (Pit)
Caron (Pit)

I don't see Lou making a deal for a G. Backup. Schwab can do the job. If he's injured, they can call up Clemmenson.

Stick with Corey Schwab, it's hard for goalies to be a backup to Marty but he seems to enjoy it and as always played well when given the chance.

I was somewhat surprised by one of the local Devils writers yesterday suggesting Corey Schwab's repeated injuries were likely a result of him having so much time off between games. He managed this perfectly last season without incident and it was no problem at all for him so why would it be an issue now all of a sudden? I just think its plain bad luck this season and not a result of him dogging it conditioning wise or what not.

Tugnutt's still under contract, Dallas just waived him because he just wasn't playing very well, and also hoping that somebody might take away his salary (in the 2.5 mil range I think). As expected, there weren't any interested teams. If Tugnutt were playing a decent NHL backup level, Dallas would have kept him on the squad anyways since they're stuck with his salary a la Turgeon.
Like Tugnutt, Johnson was passed on by 29 teams. You would have thought a couple teams could have used a seemingly decent young goalie who's won a couple playoff rounds before. Will have to see if he can recover like Brian Boucher. He's making a little over a million for the year, I'm not sure if his contract extends after this year or not.
McLennan looked pretty banged up earlier this week in a game against the Kings. Quite literally he'd stop a shot, cover up, and would need several seconds to recover and get back upright.
