Many many moons ago, Letterman had Messier and Leetch on...well sorta, they were at the rink and the camera was in the net and after a little Q&A Leetch adn Mess took wristers at the camera.

I went to a recording once. I thought the same thing until I got the info and tickets. :) I would love to go again, Letterman is pretty funny...(even though I havent watched his show in like 10 years).

They are probably going to do some kind of skit or probably the top 10 list.

Also, Letterman is on at 11:50 PM Eastern tonight because there is a 20-minute Masters recap after local news.

I'm not a fan of this stuff during the playoffs. We need to stay focused but more importantly we need to stay hungry (think Clubber Lang in Rocky III). This = a distraction & there's already plenty of those in Manhattan.

Gomez was on some show in 2000 after the Devils won the cup, it was some soap opera. :laugh: I'd like to see him in this skit.

You can't lock these guys in a room and tell them to pour over video for the next week until the second round starts - they'll just get burned out.

Stan Mikita wrote a great autobiography many years ago and emphasized the cliche: leave the game at the rink.

At the end of the day, these guys are people just like the rest of us. They've got families, friends, and hobbies that occupy their spare time. There is no reason why they can't appear on Letterman, have a little fun, and take their minds off of things for a while.

Sometimes the time you spend away from the game is more important than the time you spend on the game.

Besides, from a business perspective this is nothing but good for the Rangers and the league. Guys like Avery, Hank, and Shanny are charismatic guys that will draw attention to the sport.

Shanny and Avery were the most natural by far. Kinda cheesy but its nice to get some air time.
