Devils are closer to Newark arena deal

Yesterday's defensive posturing was a sign that a deal between the two sides may be close.
"It's in the hands of people higher than me," said Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello. "I don't want to get into it."
According to the published report in the Record of Hackensack, the two sides are "likely to sign a memorandum of understanding in the next several days, guaranteeing the team will move to the state's largest city if a new arena is built."
"He's not commenting on that," said Pamela Goldstein, a spokesperson for Newark Mayor Sharpe James.
