Al Bundy* 04-07-2008, 12:36 AM Before Marty, the Devils had a series of decent goalies (Burke, Terreri, Billington, Chico).
I was wondering how you Devils fans remember the days before #30.
Feel free to remininisce on the other goalies in Devils history.
ILikeItVeryMuch 04-07-2008, 12:38 AM Craig Billington for life.
Mr.Krinkle 04-07-2008, 12:47 AM Corey Schwab lived the thug life.
Although technically he wasn't pre Marty, he's just the last guy I remembered actually throwin the gloves down in a game.
Devils9789 04-07-2008, 12:53 AM The first devils game I ever went to Tererri was in net. He played horrible though.
åboriginal 04-07-2008, 01:44 AM oh and terreri was the man:yo:
tailfins 04-07-2008, 05:42 PM I grew up on Alain Chevrier. Oof - those were the days :(
Lou's Koolaid 04-07-2008, 05:43 PM oh and terreri was the man:yo:+1 T-bone still rules.:yo:
wingmanpei 04-07-2008, 05:50 PM Don't forget Bob Sauve and his chocolate cupcake skates :)
BenedictGomez 04-07-2008, 05:52 PM I'll add Bob Sauve to the list before all the "also rans" are mentioned.
EDIT: Doh!!!!
JRZ DVLS 04-07-2008, 06:05 PM I grew up on Alain Chevrier. Oof - those were the days :(
Thats where i was going. Many a decent goalies were stuck on a team that just couldn't do much. Burke stuck out huge with the 88 team and played great for a few seasons. CAT-Tererri took the reigns from him and was a stepping stone to Marty and was servicable. Mainly a great teamate. .
Then the rest was history....
Peter Sidorkiewicz & Kirk Mclean had a cup of coffee.....
Main Keepers were
Resch
Low
Chevrier
Sauve
Burke
Billington
Tererri
Brodeur
Brodeur
Brodeur
Big#D 04-07-2008, 11:30 PM Still have a soft spot for Burke. I thought he was a good goalie who really never got a shot to be the number one. He was always looked at as a 1A or backup type goalie.

I thought he was the starter for at least 2 of the 3 full seasons that he played for the Devils and was the starter after he joined the team after the Olympics in the '87/88 season.

I meant after he left the Devils. He did get some shots but I never felt he was really relied upon for more than a season or two.

Because he's a bit of a nutjob. He's still the only player to ever give me the finger during a game.

What did you do to deserve it? That's hilarious.
Saint Martin 04-08-2008, 07:10 AM There was nothing before Brodeur.
Luke3026 04-08-2008, 07:54 AM I was a huge Tererri fan before Brodeur came along. He had that flopping and flailing style of goaltending. I remember being a little annoyed when this kid with the thick French accent started taking Chirs' playing time.
I guess it worked out well enough in the end, though. :handclap:
MoonDragn 04-08-2008, 10:20 AM Never really thought the Devils Goaltenders were any special til Brodeur came along. It wasn't just his ability but his personality. Marty was a real friendly and outspoken guy. You couldn't help but like him.
