karacter 04-04-2008, 02:39 PM Who is your most improved duck of this year? Huskins and Parros obviouslly while Perry's development was monumental in terms of scoring. Also, Ryan, Hiller, and Carter have looked much better this year and are very much improved.
That stated, our team relies on D, so my vote goes to Huskins.
swisdan 04-04-2008, 02:47 PM I would like to say Carter. Despite his injury.
Hiller perhaps. But he was very strong last year too. But it's pretty normal he has struggled a little in the beginning because he had to adjust his game.
1manband 04-04-2008, 03:02 PM They've all done well
First, take Carter out, I think hes shined because hes been given the chance, the skill was always there.
Huskin's has been given big minutes and played great, can definitely see his confidence rising with his coast to coasts.
I don't think we've seen enough of Ryan but he is good, can turn fast with the puck and has killer instincts.
Parros is still doing his thing, making sure everyone is safe, but you never see him ****** up, and at times he has looked dangerous
I would say for me it goes to Hiller, bit shaky at the start but hes looking solid now, a competent backup for Jiggy. It does help that we have probably the best goalie coach in the NHL, but hes gota put the effort in
BraveSirRobin 04-04-2008, 04:17 PM I'm going to say Parros. Last season he was only on the ice to protect his teammates and fight, but couldn't do much else. This year he still does that, but he's no longer a liability. He forechecks well, skates much better, and has made some really nice plays. (His pass to Wirtanen for his first NHL goals sticks out for me.) I'd feel perfectly fine with George playing in the post season, unlike last year.
TheJoeMan 04-04-2008, 04:34 PM Ryan Getzlaf. I think it gets a little lost that he has become our #1 forward in just his third season. He plays in all situations and is the go-to center for offense. Now we all expected him to get to this point but it doesn't take away from how much he's improved. We like to point out when guys don't play up to their potential but rarely acknowledge the ones that have. Bravo Getzy!
Rec T 04-04-2008, 05:19 PM Parros. As DGIT said, last year he was a mess out there. This year, in addition to his primary job (protecting those who need it), he's actually contributing to the offense (or at least not making major mistakes). As far as the fighting half goes, his balance has gotten much better.
Hopefully now RC will give him the ice time in the playoffs, he's certainly earned it this year.
Close 2nd, Huskins. With Scott gone for the 1st half of the season he had to step up his game & he did.
Ryan has shown much improvement with the exposure that he's gotten this year. He's not quite there yet but he's not the potential liability on the ice that he was early in the season.
SonOfBraincramp 04-04-2008, 05:45 PM Huskins, Carter, Hiller
All 3 about even.
iHATEbeauch23 04-04-2008, 06:12 PM I would have said carter put i think his moments of scoring were taking place in too short of a time and then he got injured, so we really doesn't know if he would have kept it up, so im going to say parros.
lijay55 04-04-2008, 06:57 PM i would have to say jonas hiller.....after the start of the season..and losing bryz...i was worried about having a back up going into the playoffs.... i can see this guy becoming our 'cam ward' one day
lijay55 04-04-2008, 07:19 PM oh yea..huskins..how could i forgot.... his +/- is definately flying under the radar
karacter 04-04-2008, 10:21 PM Ryan Getzlaf.
:handclap: touche sir i forgot to mention him. I'm not sure anyone expected him to be THIS GOOD so soon.
cheesymc 04-04-2008, 10:27 PM I say have more categories, like best rookie and Most Improved Player:
Rookie- Hillier. I think he really helped ease the loss of Illya and he will be very important in the playoffs because JS's dehydration/back problems. Carter is good, but he wasnt able to play as many games.
MIP: Huskins. Man, I hated this guy last year. He often tripped over his own skates and looked lost. This year he's gone insane... showing crazying puck handling, good awarness/aggression, and even some toughness. Parros/Perry/Getzlaf also improved quite a bit, but we expected that from the 'twins'.
Most Regressed Player: Bertuzzi/Rob Nied., but I think we all knew it would happen, or that they were already bottoming out. I also think Pronger has not been as good as last year.
cheesymc 04-04-2008, 10:28 PM Let me change the most regressed player... that has to be Frankie by a mile...
TheJoeMan 04-05-2008, 01:00 AM Let me change the most regressed player... that has to be Frankie by a mile...
Seconded.
