daron7 04-04-2008, 02:36 PM if i remember correctly, we did not even have a top 50 last time.
anyways, lookin forward to seeing him (and his oozing potential) up next year!
anyone recall exactly how he got hurt in his first (and only) game this year?

If I remember correctly, he was in the top 50 last year too. But I could be remembering wrong.
Darius Dangleaitis 04-04-2008, 02:38 PM Glad to see him get some recognition. He's definitely got some talent and I think he could've been effective for us if he never got hurt.
ILikeItVeryMuch 04-04-2008, 03:34 PM Quick call him up
Brooklyndevil 04-04-2008, 05:11 PM In this year's "The Hockey News - Future Watch" Conte said that Berfors hurt both his shoulders and if it wasn't for his injuries, he might still be with the big team. However, in the same article, Lou's quote was "He's not a player you put on the fourth line. He's a skill player, but it's tough to find him a spot with Gionta and Lagenbrunner." I don't know if that means the only way Bergfors get's a spot if he moves one of the two and I doubt he plans on trading the captain.

yeah i wonder how much he could have solidified the team's scoring lines if he would have remained healthy and stuck, i think he coulda helped a lot
Mustangs 04-04-2008, 05:43 PM Does Bergs contract end this summer, is his entry level contract up. I sure hope he doesn't skip town to go back to europe.

I believe he has another two years left...
Try here to find out. (http://www.nhlscap.com)
Mustangs 04-05-2008, 02:24 AM I checked the web site, something doesn't really make sense. when you come into the sign a entry level contract it is for 3 years. this is Bergs 3rd year of pro hockey... shouldn't he have to sigh a contract this summer.

Well yes, but there's some rule that causes Bergfors' contract to slide over each year. He still has some years left.

I believe it has something to do with the fact that Bergfors didnt play junior hockey. He joined the AHL farm right out of the draft. Essenially these past 3 years have been his development years.
Look back at that decision however you want, but I believe it shows great dedication and maturity from the blue eyed boy.
Game Breaker 04-05-2008, 01:25 PM If no top six forward is signed this summer, I'm expecting to see:
Parise-Elias-Langenbrunner/Bergfors
Zubrus-Zajac-Bergfors/Langenbrunner
Pandolfo-Madden-Gionta
Rupp/Brylin-Pelley-Clarkson
Devils9789 04-05-2008, 02:10 PM If no top six forward is signed this summer, I'm expecting to see:
Parise-Elias-Langenbrunner/Bergfors
Zubrus-Zajac-Bergfors/Langenbrunner

I hate to see Gio on the 3rd line, maybe swtich him with Langs. But nevertheless I like those lines.
Mustangs 04-05-2008, 04:34 PM I like the look of that line up. The potenial for that line up is good it all depends on a few things. Zajac's cpntinued development as a Center, Zubrus offensive touch
Clarkson Falls Down 04-05-2008, 04:47 PM If no top six forward is signed this summer, I'm expecting to see:
Parise-Elias-Langenbrunner/Bergfors
Zubrus-Zajac-Bergfors/Langenbrunner
Pandolfo-Madden-Gionta
Rupp/Brylin-Pelley-Clarkson
I like those lines alot if we don't sign a top 6 forward, but since I'm absolutely in love with signing Marian Hossa these would be my lines:
Parise-Elias-Hossa
Bergfors-Zajac-Gionta
Pandolfo-Madden-Langenbrunner
Zubrus-Rupp-Clarkson
Now those are lines that I like alot.

Thats lights out right there. I really don't care at this point, I just want to win again.

While scoring some goals too. :D
Killa Cam Janssen 04-05-2008, 05:31 PM if we dont sign a top 6 I would expect (and hope) that if bergfors is ready, zubrus moves to the madden line rather than langs or gio. we would have:
Parise-Elias-Langs
Gio-Zajac-Bergfors
Pando-Madden-Zubrus
Brylin/Rupp-Pelley-Clarkson
Maybe Bergfors and Langs could be switched. Regarding Lous comments, I dont see whats so hard about moving GIo or Langs to left wing, theyre both veterans. zubrus made the swtcih this year (i believe he is a natural RW)
Feed Me A Stray Cat 04-05-2008, 06:47 PM Vrana will be on the team next year.
Game Breaker 04-05-2008, 07:57 PM Vrana will be on the team next year.
If so, who will be out since Bergfors will be up as well? No Rupp? I could care less, just wondering. Maybe split the time with several players.

I'd say Vrana has a much better chance of being on the big squad than Bergfors. Vrana is a versatile guy who can play on a number of different lines and at all positions. He's put in his AHL due and is finally breaking out. Bergfors is still only 21.
Valhoun 04-05-2008, 08:04 PM Anyone with a name as cool as his should play in the NHL.

The problem with that is that we need a scorer, and Bergfors is a lot closer to that then Vrana, who is comparable to a Brylin type player.
Brooklyndevil 04-05-2008, 08:18 PM Malone-Elias-Gionta
Parise- Zajac-Bergfors
Pandolfo-Madden-Langenbrunner
Zubrus-Pelley-Clarkson
Rupp
Martin -Oduya
White - Liles
Smith - Corrente
Mottau
Move Greene and Vrana to move up in the draft.
An if Lou's not going to sign a Hossa or Rolston, get Malone and at least make the team tougher, we still not grity enough.

If lou could pull off a hossa signing and bergfors is as advertised, that would be one of the better lineups we've had 3 or 4 years. great scoring and balance.

Honestly, I think they both will stand above average chance to make the team next season. Vrana's strong play has been consistent throughout the whole season, and he has been on fire for Lowell down the stretch, scoring his 20th goal of the season last night. If Bergfors proves he is ready to play in the top 6 next season, he should at least start the year with the team. But he has to be on a scoring line. Vrana, on the other hand is versatile enough that he could be effective playing any line/role next year. He could be plugged in at center or wing, or on a scoring line or a checking line next season. His versatility is key.
daron7 04-06-2008, 02:43 PM alot of people say vrana put in his time and is ready for the big move. last year, who knows how long bergfors would have been with us if he stayed healthy. i think we will put vrana and bergfors to use this year...if and how long they stay is up to them.
i gotta say though, it seems that we are getting small as a team, which concerns me.
do either of these players have an edge to their game or can they absorb hits? i cant recall how bergfors got hurt this year but hopefully his injury doesnt say much about him not being able to take nhl checking.

Bergfors is a thick kid. 5'11" and 190+ if I recall correctly.
sattar18 04-06-2008, 05:56 PM Bergfors is a thick kid. 5'11" and 190+ if I recall correctly.
exactly, it was a weird hit, that popped his shoulder out
daron7 04-06-2008, 10:00 PM supposedly when his shoulder healed he injured the other one in lowell. tough luck right there!
Classic Devil 04-06-2008, 10:00 PM I think it should be Corrente in the top-50, not Bergfors.

yes that exactly what happened.
