Game 75 GDT: Anaheim at Dallas, 3-19-08 5:30

_h0sehead_

:ducks VS. :stars
5:30 FSW (or center ice)

Ducks are 1-5-0 against the Stars being outscored 2.2 goal per game on average. However, as of late the Ducks have been the better team at 7-2-1 in their last 10 as compared to Dallas 5-5-0 and just lost to one of the coldest teams in hockey (VAN). In standings Anaheim and Dallas are only point apart at 90 and 89 pts respectively.

Spread the points gap! go DUCKS :yo:

Key Injuries:
Dallas - Philippe Boucher, Sergei Zubov
Anaheim - Prongs, CP

Useless, our powerplay is abso-****ing-lutley useless. And Giguere's damned if he does go down and damned if he stands up (which he did). Ridiculous that our power play is so bad now that we're not only not scoring, we're giving up goals too.

I've gotta give it to Dallas, that's one of the more effective traps I've seen in a while. There was absolutely no space in the neutral zone, and the Ducks were pretty much confined to the boards while in the offensive zone.

You think that's something Allaire teaches? I notice Giguere always skates to the top of his crease when forecheckers show up, I noticed Hiller does it, and I noticed Bryz doing it in a game against us earlier. I'm sure other goalies do this, but I really only seem to see the Ducks goalies (or former Ducks goalies, as it were) do it with any sort of regularity.

I only saw since like the Robidas penalty at the end of the 2nd, and I'd have to agree just from that 1 period.

But I thought the Ducks had bought the refs and were screwing all teams East of the coast?

As far as my own personal entertainment at work, I hope that there is a main-whine-board thread about Bert bullying Turco into his own net.

I don't hate Turco... I think his antics are very entertaining... Its just fun to watch him do his usual 'fall back and cry about interference... lift the net off of its moorings to get a whistle... take slashes at Anaheim players who take swings at loose pucks in the crease'.

Turco is a great goaltender, but its fun to watch the Dallas team break down at the same point as their goaltender. They rely so much on Turco's play, when he starts being... 'unreliable', their entire squad becomes sporadic.

Because the officiating isn't what I wanted it to be, it was terrible...

There's a lot that goes on that is called or isn't called... either because the refs see it or they don't.

Fans need to stop believing that their personal opinions on a game (from an elevated TV view with replays) deserve any relation with a call made on the ice.

No, you misunderstand. It wasn't about what I wanted. It was about the game in general. The calls were brutal for both teams. I felt Anaheim might have been hurt more overall, but that Dallas was hurt more in the end (the call on Morrow). Ultimately, one way or the other, it's just a poorly officiately game. 5-on-5, I felt Anaheim did pretty well, and I feel comfortable that if the game had been called properly, or been 5-on-5 the entire game, that Anaheim would have triumphed.

How in the name of all that is holy did Scott Niedermayer not get all 3 star selections himself? His 3rd period play was incredible.

If Bert continues to play like he has for the last couple games, he is worth the money. He played smart, taking away passing and skating lanes by establishing his position. He got into their goalies head, which is just awesome. He even played well defensively for us. And then there is the game winning goal.

Selanne undressed every one of their defenseman twice. His hands are not quite as good as they were last year but his skating is phenomenal. He creates so many scoring chances with that little stutter step then a burst of Turbo Teemu.

Bobby Ryan looked good IMO. He skated hard, played positionally well on defense and was in on a few scoring chances...he did take 2 penalties though and Carlyle seems to not like it when rookies take penalties. If he works on his balance when getting bumped to be stronger with the puck under pressure I think he will be a good 1st line player eventually. Although I do have to say he is far more stable with the puck then Perry was with this many NHL games played and if Perry can learn to be more stable Bobby Ryan can as well.

Even though Bertuzzi had a good game (screen and goal), he still does at least one thing each shift that drives me crazy. Most of it has to do with the fact that he doesn't take the puck to the net, he curls back Kariya style in hopes someone else will make it happen.

The one time in the game he did actually take the puck to the net, he scored.

He usually not only talks his team up, but is quick to point out the other teams faults. I know they are supposed to be biased to their home team, but he's ridiculous. There's about a million things wrong between your assumption of what he meant, the way you went about refuting your incorrect notion, and your horrible presentation.

It's just too much to point out. Reread what he said and think about it, ask some friends about it, and then come back and post. Or don't.
Belated thanks for this post, btw. Saved me a ton of energy that would have been spent on a useless retort after I woke up this morning. :D
