I am looking to get some Chinese food to orden in while writing an essay tonight, are there any Victorians here who know a good chinese food restaurant around the UVIC area?

Don't know if it's close enough for you but Halibut House on Quadra off Mackenzie is our usual Chinese spot.

That would be fine as I have a car. Thanks for the info. Do they serve sweet and sour boneless pork sort of stuff, or is it primarily seafood with a name like "Halibut House"?

Sampan is my favourite Chinese place in Victoria. Good food (not too greasy), huge portions, and reasonable prices.

I tried the Halibut House first, and it was pretty good. Thanks for the recommendation from everyone, I will try the others later.

JJ is good, but a bit pricey.

I always order from Szechuan. Not Szechuan City. . .Szechuan. Across from Save-on-Foods Centre.

Purple Garden at Cedar Hill X road and Shelbourne is great. They close pretty early though.

I used to live in Victoria up until a year ago and we always went to Sampan. Very Good.

Don Mee (dim sum)
Mings (upper end)

Both are famous in the city

Mings, mmm good. I want you all to know that Chinese Food is a harsh mistress, especially when you're eating it alone.

You get three plates for some variety, and after you eat a third of it, you're in pain. What is nice is that there is more chinese food to come :)

J J Noodle House on Fort.

Is that the one at Fort/Vancouver?
I know there is a Noodle House there that I walk past every day on my way to work that I don't think I've ever looked at the sign to find out what it's actually called.

I was just walking around Fisgard yesterday and there are many Chinese food restaurants around these, but they are closer to the downtown.
