I'l admit that I know very little about most of the rules and cba and early ducks history. I just enjoy watching the game and enjoying rooting for the ducks and recently following Habs games. But I still have questions about the game so I'll ask one and the next person should help answer my question and then ask a question of their own to be clarified. This way we should probably all become alittle more educated on this great team and game.

Welll Anyways the questions I was wondering about was whats a Buyout and who is Tyler Wright?

Tyler Wright was the other player we got in the Sergei Fed trade. He was bought out...which means that his salary was eaten up by the Ducks. As a penalty though, a quarter of his salary (something like that) is eaten up by the team for x amount of years...in this case 4 years.

You know a lot more than you think man. We all started out as new fans. The best way to learn the game is to just watch as many games as you can. I have watched every Duck game now for about 4-5 years and I am still learning new things occasionally. :thumbu: Don't be afraid to ask questions if you are unsure about something.

Why did we buy him out and your suppose to ask a question to keep this going.

I believe we sent him down to the minors and he failed to report.

Oh, sorry about that. Hmm, OK. Question.

Do you guys think that Pesonen will be brought over? Burke has shown that he is willing to bring European free agents over (Hiller, Melin), so I am thinking yes, but I want to hear another opinion.

Welll Anyways the questions I was wondering about was whats a Buyout

Simply when a club no longer wishes to have the player o the roster thry can buy-out the players contract by paying 2/3 of value and extending it twice the distance of the contract. It is a move used to create cap space on contracts that the club no longer wants and the player has no trade value so unable to dump on anther team.

e.g.
Aplayer has a 2 year 3 million dollar contract. Instead of paying him 3 million a year for 2 years they would owe the player 4 million over 4 years reducing theur cap hit from 3 million to one million. The player is then free to negotiate a contract with any other club.

who is Tyler Wright?
