BTW I was listening to Bettman's show on XM this afternoon and some stupid Rags fan called and complained to Bettman about a comment Doc made during the Winter Classic (I believe it was that game.) I think after Milbury and Costas talked about the incident in MSG involving the Bruins and Rags, Doc said something like "Rangers fans are more well behaved now" and then said something about the blue seats. I vaguely remember hearing it... Anyways this stupid hole took offense to it and Bettman said he would look into it. I don't want to sound hypocritical because we're all going on Trautwig right now, but Doc is no Trautwig. Doc is a class act, not some ******* who did a lot of "favors" to get were he is right now. He isn't even remotely homer-ish on the Devils broadcast, why would he attempt to insult Rangers fan on national TV during the biggest game of the year in terms of ratings?

I grew up in a Ranger household, JD and Sam were a great announce team, I don't like Micheletti though, Sam is still pretty good - he has a very unique voice. When I had Center Ice a few years ago I realized how lucky we are in this area to have guys like Doc & Chico, JD & Sam, hell even Howie Rose ain't half bad compared to some of the bland announcers that are around the league.

Of course that's excluding Mike Lange, every time I see that 'Penguins 10 Greatest Games" commercial on NHL Network I consider ordering it just for the Lange quotes.

Stan is a frontrunner, I think he's a Ranger fan at heart but abandoned them before the lockout. I also think if the Isles were kicking ass he'd be the world's biggest Isles promoter too.
I always thought he was a closet Isles fan.

I grew up in a Ranger household, JD and Sam were a great announce team, I don't like Micheletti though, Sam is still pretty good - he has a very unique voice. When I had Center Ice a few years ago I realized how lucky we are in this area to have guys like Doc & Chico, JD & Sam, hell even Howie Rose ain't half bad compared to some of the bland announcers that are around the league.

Of course that's excluding Mike Lange, every time I see that 'Penguins 10 Greatest Games" commercial on NHL Network I consider ordering it just for the Lange quotes.

I have to agree, I grew up on JD/Sam Doc/Chico. But Micheletti is boring as hell. When the Blues happened to come play the Rangers at MSG this year, JD came into the booth for a few minutes, and boy did it bring back good memories. Doc/Chico I have respect for as well, and agree when they make the homer comment, they usually admit it. Now for my hated announcer, is that **** Jeanerette in Buffalo, I cannot stand listening to Buffalo games. HUGE HOMERS up there, and annoying as ****in hell

All time favorite is still JD though, but that might be homerism. I have heard from many Devs fans that they too enjoyed JD when he was here, and how knowledgeable the guy was about the game. I digress though, while I dont have a hatred for Al, I could care less for him all the same. Like I said hes the annoying third wheel.....

JD displayed a bit of annoying homerism toward the end of his time as a broadcaster. It would get on my nerves because he typically was always fair in his commentary, but I'm sure that all leads back to who owns everything.

I mean c'mon...how many home announcers would basically laugh hysterically when a player of a bitter rival rips off a guys jersey and then punts it in his teams building? His laugh in that video is priceless.

I got no problem praising JD, he basically singlehandedly saved the Blues franchise, like I predicted. You have to look past affiliations when it comes to people who are just great for the sport.

You guys are crackin me up with all that. Not to start problems, but please realize every team has their homer announcers, Doc and Chico are by no means unbiased :shakehead

Wow, its pretty sad that all you Devils fans are getting on here posting ridiculous things. Fact is the Devils are sitting what a whole 4 points ahead of the Rangers right now, with how many divisional games coming up??? Oh and the Rangers record against the Devils is what this year??? If I was all I wouldnt be sitting too comfortable right now. And by the way how far did the devils go last year? You all want to sit here and smash on Al, yet take a look at your own homerist announcers, Chico and Emerick, yeah they are sooooo much better.

I for one loved hearing JD and Doc together on the NBC games... especially the Devils - Rangers games... gonna miss that. They are the perfect balance of slightly optimistic bias comments for their team, yet perfectly willing to give out compliments to the opposition.

Not to mention JD is one of the only guys to have perfect on-air timing with Doc and not step on each others words... he would interject perfectly with a slight pause by Emrick to the point I swore they used hand signals... something Chico will never get down.

I wish Doc and Chico were homers, but they're the furthest thing from it. Yes, they favor the Devils, but that's essentially their job. They never go out and bash the opposing team or its players like other announcers do. Chico is a goalie homer, he'll back up anyone in net no matter what jersey they're wearing.

JD was always classy, but his homerism did increase near the end of his time in the booth. I didn't mind so much on the MSG broadcasts, but it was out of place on the OLN and NBC broadcasts, especially when the Rangers weren't even playing.
