Brodeur has won 36 games this season, leaving him tied with San Jose Sharks goaltender Evgeni Nabokov yesterday for the most in the National Hockey League. The two men were also atop the table in total ice time, standing within 30 minutes of each other, even though there is no comparing the mileage they have logged over their respective careers.

Nabokov had appeared in 416 games over his career. Brodeur has played in 953, and has not finished a season with fewer than 70 appearances in a decade.

"People say he's arguably the best goalie in the game today, and to me, there's no such thing as 'arguably' --he is the best goalie in the game today," Devils coach Brent Sutter said. "Marty has played a lot of games for us and he will continue to play a lot. It's about time management."

And he still uses the kind of equipment Sawchuk might have worn, meaning that unlike, say, Roberto Luongo in Vancouver, Brodeur would not have to share the Vezina Trophy with his billowy pads

Wow.

Fraud might be a bit much, but it's certainly nice to have some validation to our argument.

btw here's to Luongo and the Nucks missing the playoffs.

I don't know why so many articles are popping up about Marty playing a lot. It happens every year.

Anyhow, as a Weekes fan, I sincerely hope Lou decides to trade him this summer. I don't know what he was thinking signing with New Jersey. :shakehead

Doubt it unless he gets a hella offer for him in return. Lou's no idiot - what if Marty went down with an injury (wood knock here)- you need a quality backup who can stand in and still give the team a shot at the cup.

It's the most important position and you want us to jettison a backup that is a starter elsewhere in the league? No thanks, the designated high-five guy is doing just fine where he is.

I will laugh my ass off if Vancouver misses the playoffs.

Has Marty ever been injured? A legit question. I don't ever remember him not being there or having any kind of injury that lasted more than 2-3 games.

Plus, a goalie who plays 6 games a year isn't worth anything in a trade market, so Lou isn't going to get any kind of return on him. Maybe a third rounder. Might as well take it.

It's gonna be even harder for them now that Ohlund's out for the season.

For six games two years ago, that's pretty much it. His durability's second only to Brett Favre's :yo:

In the 05-06 season he missed 6 games.
