Ok so I know lou's stance on 3rd jerseys but...

i think it would be a great thing for every team in the league to wear their original jerseys at least a couple games a season. Now this could be a great thing that could even turn inot an even(amybe one at home and one away).

it would be a great chance for younger fans to know what the team looked like at its inception and for nostolgia(sp) peuposes for those of us who remeber the great christmas trees from the past. It can also be viewed to measure how far we have come from a team re-located twice that IMO is the the team (with the wings) of the last 20 years.

I know in the past the Avs have worn the nords jerseys and I think they wore the rockies jerseys too at press conference. Witht he trend next season with buffalo, the isles and others wearing retro as their thirds it might be a good idea and not a ploy to sucker the consumer with aover the top crappy version of a jersey. I have made a thread in the main forum about this, but Lou(and our fanbase since Car will be getting a 3rd next year leaving us the only team to never do so, while I take pride in that, i love in NHL 08 to throw on the red and green for a special game) would have to be the one to convinced.

What do you guys and gals think?

Also a quick follow up I hate to see the wild get all the credit for the red and green I mean we took a lotta ***** for it, we were damn pioneers. This doesnt take away from our current jerseys as I think with the hawks, habs, rags(ugh) and boston I feel we are top seed as far as jersey design and logo perhaps the best combo outside the hawks.....

Just a reminder that most 3rd jerseys did fail, so lou was right there but I remember in 04 a handful of teams wore their orginal jerseys ie the nucks(turned out to be the current) the rangers sheild(my fav of theirs), leafs(ended up being their 3rd), flyers (made them realize orange was in their heart although management hasnt caught on yet) and habs white with blue ring(they ended up adoping it as a 3rd for them with such tradition was amazing). And recently the out cry for the sabres and isles to go back to their roots.

In all seriousness - the wild's color scheme is much more edible to my taste than the devs red/green scheme. I didn't care much for the christmas tree colors at all (I like red/black much better), but I do like the wild's darker tones in comparison. They are using lumberjack colors rather than the bold/full saturation tones we had.

Wear the Christmas tree jerseys around Christmas time! It would really get people into the holiday spirit!

I would love to see the Devils bring back the old Christmas tree's, but realistically I don't see it happening. Aside from the fact that Lou would never go for it, don't you run in to some practical problems when going to a different color scheme? Wouldn't all the players need to to get new gloves & helmets to match the red & green colors...by the same token, Marty would have to wear new red & green equipment...otherwise it all just wouldn't look right.

They do if it's going to look right but typically they don't. When the Avs wore the Nordiques jerseys, they still wore the black pants and gloves. Same with the Sabres the first time they went back to the blue and gold.

Also, the christmas tree uniforms wouldn't look right if they didn't go back to those ugly ass pants they used to wear with all the stripes down the side.

Lou put up a big fight to not change the jerseys at all when the new RBK jerseys came out. I don't think there is any way that he will go for any retro style jerseys.
