Pelley recalledNone Shall Pass 03-03-2008, 10:40 PM http://devils.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=355738 Game Breaker 03-03-2008, 10:43 PM Here comes the scoring! :shakehead Gunnar Stahl 30 03-03-2008, 10:48 PM i think he is going to play over zajac devsfan8 03-03-2008, 10:54 PM I honestly see not one of the 12 forwards active on the roster who would produce less then Rod Pelley!! Even Mike Rupp is good for a goal here and there and with his reach and size I would play before Pelley atthis point. I think the best way to get the offense going is to shuffle the lines in a big way. Zajac to 4th line Center: Parise-Elias-Langenbrunner Pandolfo-Madden-Gionta Zubrus-Rupp-Clarkson Brylin-Zajac-Asham Another option is to play 7 defenseman as well and 11 forwards. DevilDog 03-03-2008, 10:56 PM Here comes the scoring! :shakehead My thoughts exactly. Gunnar Stahl 30 03-03-2008, 11:00 PM I honestly see not one of the 12 forwards active on the roster who would produce less then Rod Pelley!! Darius Dangleaitis 03-03-2008, 11:40 PM Damn, would've been nice to see Vrana or Bergy. I'd rather have them get top six minutes anyway. Even though 4th line minutes in New Jersey is better than playing the whole game in Lowell. DevilFisch 03-03-2008, 11:48 PM Damn, would've been nice to see Vrana or Bergy. I'd rather have them get top six minutes anyway. Even though 4th line minutes in New Jersey is better than playing the whole game in Lowell. As I stated in an earlier post: Why Vrana and Bergfors? Vrana has 10 goals and 35 assists in Lowell in 59 games, so maybe but given that the comparison for him is Sergei Brylin, I question how much of an offensive spark he can actually provide at a level he's never played at. Bergfors has had pitiful production in Lowell with only 8 goals and 10 assists in 45 games. Just because he played in the first game this season doesn't mean he's going to ignite the offense. If you think Vrana and Bergfors are the answer, I think you're sorely mistaken. åboriginal 03-03-2008, 11:58 PM Here comes the scoring! :shakehead beat me to it ....cmon lou  devsfan8 03-04-2008, 12:02 AM Damn, would've been nice to see Vrana or Bergy. I'd rather have them get top six minutes anyway. Even though 4th line minutes in New Jersey is better than playing the whole game in Lowell. Because to be a on the active NJ Devils roster as a forward or D-Man, a pre-requisite is that you have to be able to play decent defensively. If you are a forward you have to join the defense. The great Devils teams have always had four forward lines play good sound defensively and assist the blue line. Suglobov did not..he got shipped. From what I have been told, Bergfors and Vrana need to start playing better defensively as well. To me, if we put them out there with Martin and White then Vrana and Bergfors should be able to focus on putting the puck on net as priority #1 and providing needed offensive production. Bergfors had 5 SOG's in the 1 and only game he played this season and had a very nice pre-season. So I am thinking the coaching staff sees an inability to play effective 2 way hockey. the coaching staff does not see it that way which is why we are in the bottom 1/3 in the league in GAA and always in the top 2 or 3 in GF. But hey it wins Championships. Darius Dangleaitis 03-04-2008, 01:04 AM As I stated in an earlier post: Why Vrana and Bergfors? I think the reason he made the team out of camp is not only that he impressed, but that he learned better defense. I'm getting grilled in this thread:scared:. fIREnIcE 03-04-2008, 01:08 AM Damn, would've been nice to see Vrana or Bergy. I'd rather have them get top six minutes anyway. Clarke was here and wa productive I just dont understand how these guys are never givena shot, and they just will neveer gow. there only a few thing I disagree with Lou and Co. about and this is it after 01 we really stoped using our younger guys(you can make the scase that they arent that great compared to when our system was busting at the seems) but give these guys a shot, Rupp Asham even brylin can sit a couple here and there showcase them even if lou wants but they can never make anything of themselves or be a pleasant suprise if they are not given the shot. Like shooting yourself in the foot:shakehead fIREnIcE 03-04-2008, 01:10 AM Alright man take it easy. I agree with you if it means anything, as I siad before teams that recently have given younger guys a shot have been suprised here and there....remember last season when clarkson had a hard time getting some playing time when he would have been a better choice than Cam for sure. At this point with scoring at a stailmate(sp) we really need to explore other options. Trade#5 03-04-2008, 01:50 AM As I stated in an earlier post: Why Vrana and Bergfors? The only way to prove if they are the answer is to call them up. speculate all you want. pelley has been with us before, we see what he does and it isn't really scoring. bergs and vrana are worth a shot. I just dont get it....maybe in a few games the dorr will open, but Im not holding my breath Alcoolique 03-04-2008, 08:26 AM I think Lou should call up either Vrana or Bergfors, to give them a shot. Brooklyndevil 03-04-2008, 09:08 AM I like Pelley. He may not add the scoring punch the team needs, but he adds some grit and speed when he's in the line-up. MartyOwns 03-04-2008, 09:55 AM guys...Vrana is not the answer to our scoring problems. some of you treat him like he will come in and average a goal a game. he will have the same production as clarkson, if that. lou needed to make a deal with one or 2 of our 9 d-men, and he didnt do it, despite his best efforts. now we are kinda stuck on offense, and since we're in a skid, everyone is freaking out. but these goalless droughts always come to and end with a flourish, so let's blow the leafs out of the water and move on. britdevil 03-04-2008, 10:01 AM Doc: Pelley, fresh off his stint from Lowell squares up for the faceoff in the Devils' zone against Kyle Wellwood. Chico: Well i gotta tell ya' Doc, I was talking to Roddy this morning, and he said he wants make an impact with the Devils, before the playoffs..... Doc: Pelley, wins the faceoff, Brylin plays it right back to Pelley..... Pelley gains the zone, he brings the puck across the Toronto blueline, a hard shot from the right circle and he SCOOOOOOOORESS!!!! ROD PELLEY!!! *Cough* Richer's Ghost 03-04-2008, 10:10 AM Doc: Pelley, fresh off his stint from Lowell squares up for the faceoff in the Devils' zone against Kyle Wellwood. Chico: Well i gotta tell ya' Doc, I was talking to Roddy this morning, and he said he wants make an impact with the Devils, before the playoffs... and he said he'll just keep playing the only way he knows, going hard each shift and keeping it simple. His dad was telling me the after one of his games in Lowell the other night... Doc: SCOOOOOOOORESS!!!! ROD PELLEY!!! Chico: Oh geez, I'm sorry Doc, I talked right over that goal, but there you go he's doing just what he said! Fixed (More likely)... ;) MKWing26 03-04-2008, 11:00 AM I've really wanted the lines to look like this for quite some time: Parise-Elias-Gionta Brylin-Zajac-Langenbrunner Pandolfo-Madden-Zubrus Asham-Rupp-Clarkson put them from one to four in whatever order you please, but I think it would work. Zubrus played very well when he was with Madden and Pandolfo, perhaps the only time he played very well this year. Brylin, Zajac and Langenbrunner were the "leftovers" in the sense that I'd specifically put together the other three lines and they were the other line by default. You SCORPIAN WOMAN. Classic Devil 03-04-2008, 12:47 PM I don't understand the fascination with Vrana. He's a third/fourth line reserve forward with offensive skills. He's not top-6 and I don't think he'll ever be top-6. MartyOwns 03-04-2008, 12:49 PM You SCORPIAN WOMAN. :biglaugh: I am going to slap you in public. devilsfan30 03-04-2008, 12:52 PM http://devils.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=355738 nice, never wanted him demoted in the first place who got sent down for him? Darius Dangleaitis 03-04-2008, 12:53 PM nice, never wanted him demoted in the first place who got sent down for him? No one. We can have as many guys up as we want. MoonDragn 03-04-2008, 01:58 PM Looks like Pelley isn't playing tonight. Sutter is using him as a threat if anybody screws up. http://njmg.typepad.com/devilsblog/2008/03/sutter-standing.html Clarkson Falls Down 03-04-2008, 02:02 PM Looks like Pelley isn't playing tonight. Sutter is using him as a threat if anybody screws up. http://njmg.typepad.com/devilsblog/2008/03/sutter-standing.html That sounds good. It'll keep guys like Clarkson, Zajac, Asham, and Rupp on their heels because they know that theymay be on the bench if they don't play well. Darius Dangleaitis 03-04-2008, 02:06 PM Zajac isn't going to be benched. The same probably goes for Clarkson. Clarkson Falls Down 03-04-2008, 02:14 PM Zajac isn't going to be benched. The same probably goes for Clarkson. Clarkson isn't invicable from being sat for a game. Lets not make him out to be something too spectacular. I love the guy, but he's been invisible for a good time here. If he doesn't pick up his play, he may get replaced. | ||
