Marty must be pissed

He did complain about the lack of goals scored a while back, and the Devils got noone at tradeday.

.
Donīt care if the Devils are first in the east, they need to score (more) goals.

I'm sure he would personally tell Lou (who I'm sure is concerned as well) if it really concerned him. Lou admitted he tried to trade one of this nine defensemen after he got Salvador. If that was the case, we would've had a new forward.

Marty should be pissed no one helped him last night and need to hold another meeting today. Marty cant do it all himself. He will steal the game for us but we need to at least score a goal or 2 for him.

I've always felt (especially lately) that Marty probably has a huge input into what the Devils do with trades, signings, scratches, etc. - mostly defencemen wise, anyways

This is when Sutter should approach Lou & tell him, "If we can carry 9 defensemen, let's carry 3 offensive players too! Call up Vrana, Bergfors & Clarke & give them a crack at scoring for us."

Then Sutter can sit 3 players whoever isn't performing to his standards on offense, sit 2 defensemen as well as Marty & see what transpires. We have nothing to lose & only goals (and some needed energy) to gain.

Again...another snoozefest again last night. :shakehead

I have no problem not making a trade if it meant sacrificing our future. This is the most fundamentally flawed "good" team the Devils have ever had. Marty has been standing on his head, other than that, our defense is very suspect and our offense is non-existent. This team will be one and done in the playoffs for two reasons. 1) Marty will be exhausted as we have seen in past seasons when he plays too much during the regular season and 2) we will not be able to score goals. I expect Lou and Sutter to address both these issues in the off season and next season (i.e., Weekes will play at least 15 games next year and Lou will make a big trade to shake things up, mark my words).

Marty has more reasons to be pissed. Most of the time he is the only one on the team giving a full 60 minute effort.

I agree. I think Lou and Marty talk on a regular basis.

We have the talent. Just need a little inspiration. That is why Kevin Weekes has to start soon, like last night against the Caps.

Marty needs the rest and the players would try a little harder with Weekes in goal as they know they don't have Brodeur to cover up for any mistakes and Weekes cannot possibly be sharp. At least that is the hope; that the team would be inspired to work their butts off. I think they get a little too comfortable with Marty in goal every game. We were only behind by a goal entering the third against the Caps. Why try so hard? We can get a couple of goals. Marty won't let in anymore.

Am I making sense? Do you agree?

Thanks!!!! :)

I agree 100 percent!!!!!!!!! Marty can't play only 20 or 40 minutes. If he did, we would lose every game 10-0!

I think Bergfors could use another shot.

Think the only two players with real heart and passion anymore is Marty and that Janssen dude we just got rid of.
.
The team relies too much on Marty, if he got a injury and did not play a whole season, the Devils would be dead last in the league.
.
Itīs also depressing to know your team can barely score 2 goals in a game.
I canīt belive the team did not add a good goalscorer at trade deadline.

Come playoffs I wouldn't mind seeing some players like Vrana, Bergfors and Clarke.

Its sad, but I was so pissed last night, that when I went to sleep, I had a dream about me screaming for Bergfors to be brought up...

Its obvious that the 12 forwards who are currently playing cannot perform consistently, and we need someone different. I really cannot see a reason not to bring Bergie up to play on one of the first 2 lines. Maybe move Zubrus to the 3rd line and put Bergie in his spot. Brylin down to the 4th line, and sit Asham/Rupp...

Brylin's best days are LONG behind him. He goes about 10 games of being invisable, then plays a good game and everyone says, "See, Sarge still has it".
Asham has turned out to be an awful FA signing.
Rupp checks the boards 80% of the time rather than the opposition and the 4th line is a defensive liability.
Yes, we are in first place but I how long will this team overachieve?
I would like to see Vrana given a shot with the bigs and see Vish and Rachunek back in the lineup tonight.

If u dont notice sarge that means he doing his job. What u want him to score 30 goals.

The only way the Devils add scoring is if Lou does his job. We're not drafting in the top five, so the Devils need to pick some scoring via UFA. This team has had a problem scoring since the lock-out.

Uh-oh, careful with the first half of that statement. :amazed:

All of our forwards are having great seasons. You'll surrender to this opinion and you'll like it. Got it?

Under no circumstances are you allowed to criticize them or their performance. especially our superstar/can never do wrong/franchise Left Wing. :sarcasm:

Finally, stats mean nothing. It's what they do on the ice that doesn't end up on the scorecsheet that matters. Unless of course, they start to go on a mini-scoring streak. Then you can forget what you said about stats meaning nothing and hypocritically point out their stats. Why, you can even resuscitate old threads about certain forwards not performing up to standards and gloat over their recent success, but then once again quickly disappear when said player falls off the scoring radar. :biglaugh:

No but his production is way down. He's not the same player he once was. He really should be an extra forward next year if we bring in some new forwards.

The Devils have had a problem scoring since 1994 with the exception of 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons. It's been an issue LONG before the lockout.

Call up Vrana and Bergfors? Vrana has 10 goals and 35 assists in Lowell in 59 games, so maybe but given that the comparison for him is Sergei Brylin, I question how much of an offensive spark he can actually provide at a level he's never played at. Bergfors has had pitiful production in Lowell with only 8 goals and 10 assists in 45 games. Just because he played in the first game this season doesn't mean he's going to ignite the offense.

I was away for a few days and then I come home to see these crappy results! Disgusting! Somehow I'm not even surprised the way this team had played during the games prior to this losing streak.

The deadline was a good thing for this team, they were on their feet and focused. Now when it's over they took their foot off the gas pedal.

Not getting a forward on the deadline has become even more evident now. Good job Lou...:shakehead

I'm not gonna comment on the play too much, because I didn't see the games, but after reading about them it sure sounds like the Devils were playing terrible.

The Devils had a great chance to take advantage this weekend, but they screwed it up once again.

Like it has been forever it seems like with this team, they're their own worst enemies.

3 game losing streak now....good job by the once Eastern Conference leading Devils....:shakehead

Let's hope they can come out of this crap soon!! Go Devs!

Marty can be pissed for not getting any scoring, but he should also be pissed at himself for not stoping the second Montreal goal. I thought he had it, but he didn't. I believe he made the initial save and thought he should have stopped that one.

That's why Lou may have to finally dip into the UFA pool. We have no one in the pipeline and keep losing key players UFA. He may have to over-pay for a winger. Unfortunately, there aren't any UFA's centers available, at least any real good ones.

how can you even blame marty for that goal, it wasnt his fault that no one was around then net to stop the habs player, it was a unlucky break because if he puts his stick around the outside the post it stopped, it was the follow through that caused the goal not the initial shot
