Barons Crush Maple Leafs, 4-3 (1-31-04)

In what proved to be a HUGE weekend series for the boys in Barons Blue, the little Sharks have come out on top of the St. John's Maple Leafs in a wild game where we even got a little help from the Leafs themselves as a Leafs player deflected a puck into his own net. This proved to be the game winner and was credited to Craig Valette. An exciting game for the fans listening back home in Cleveland, as we're starting to get a little taste of what playoff hockey in Cleveland is going to be like.

Well gang, I have to apologize for being somewhat remiss in my coverage of the last 3 games or so. I've just had alot of stuff going on, so I hope you all understand.

Valette is god.
Since I know you weren't listening, as you were busy playing for your HS hockey team tonight, I'll fill you in on Valette's goal. It was actually a shot by Valette that missed, and the Leafs player (I forget who) tried to clear it into the corner and shot it into his own goal instead. I bet that guy won't get any sleep tonight. No offense, but that one was a fluke.

Looks like a blistering top corner rocket on paper, all that matters to me. He got credit for it, which means he was around the play. You'll take em any way you can get em.

On our team? Yeah, probably....but that depends on who gets the call and who doesn't. It's a known fact that Zalesak hasn't gotten the call yet because of his unwillingness to play D. Although, I must admit, these last 2 games in St. John's have seen Miro playing a very physical game, throwing alot of checks, etc. I still think when Patrick gets himself out of this slump ( and I mean WHEN, not "if"), and either Miro or Brad gets recalled, Patrick will make a serious push and end up in 2nd, or possibly 1st. It all depends on recalls.

Quick question... How do you crush another team when you win by 1 goal? :dunno:

LOL, I guess I was a little over-zealous....in a sense, we did crush the Leafs, who HAD to split the series to keep themselves up in the standings. And to beat them 2 nights in a row in their house, well.....after the past 2 seasons as a Barons fan, I guess I was a little over-joyed.
