This game has L written all over it. Tampa Bay is hot, but its not a long streak. They are at home and rested while the Caps are on a road back to back.

Its very often the case that a team that is 4 goals behind may tie the game, but after doing so, let down once getting even and then fall behind again. Same in other sports. The same is true of big deficits in the standings.

The Caps have flattened out after getting the division lead for a few days. They have struggled in an almost win one/lose one pattern since getting close enough to take the lead with one more win.

Its a shame that the father/son trip has gone this way, but I fear a 3 game washout is coming.

Hopefully once the streak is broken with a consecutive L they can reset and get back on track. They don't have time to take too long of a breath or they will be back in last place in the division looking up at jumping 4 teams again.

Even with Erskine out of the lineup we still give up 3+ goals no matter what. Kolzig Johnson, it doesnt matter. Just like in the futile playoff yesterdyears, we can play all the great D we want, but we still need to out score them.

It starts with Ovey Backis Kozy. Put our top line together Bruce!! You will never have secondary scoring without primary scoring. If Bruce makes a few tweaks, perhaps TX's black cloud will pass.

I am not sure its a black cloud. I don't think they can like a stanley cup contender none stop thru the rest of the season. Even Ottawa has had a recent streak of losing.

Face it. Since Boudreau has taken over, the Caps have played like a legit Cup contender. Their record backs that up. Their consistant ability to keep piling up standings points no matter what the schedule has offered or the injuries at play. At somepoint they just are going to have to take a breath.

They should have won last night and in Atlanta. They outshot ATL 18-3 in the first period and should have won. Johnny let them down a little with that Kreps goal from behind the net. Otherwise they win that game.

But tonight they are going to play Lecavalier, St Louis, Richards and Boyle without either of their veteran defensemen. Poti and Pothier. They are going to play one of the fastest and most skating teams in the NHL without two of their three mobile/puck moving defensemen, Poti and Pothier. The Caps have survived without Pothier but are something like 2-7 without Poti.

oh...and the Schultz-Lepisto pair would be a nightmare. Don't you know Torts would laugh at seeing that and put Vinny and Marty out their in a heart beat? brrrrrrrrrrrrr

Kolzig has actually done well his last 4 games with a .925 save % and 1.965 GAA. Hopefully he can keep it up.

The Caps need to get going again, they are a .500 hockey club over the last 11 games. That is not good enough to get into the playoffs.

every team goes in a little funk tho, they went balls to the wall for over 2 months and now they're starting to wear down. the sad part is that if they had atleast a .500 start to the year they'd be head and shoulders above the division.

I am not sure this is something to be excited about. Its his first NHL game and if Bruce puts him out before a face off, Torts is going to put Lecavalier and St Louis out against him. No, booya there.

Sometimes you guys look at these callups like its an instant injection of production. Laing is the ONLY call up this season that has produced anything with the exception of Motzko's one game dream night.

This Lepisto excitement is like the cartwheels over Fehr's callup. While the Caps are losing games because they need some secondary scoring, Fehr has 6 games with 1 assist from touching the puck in a goal mouth scramble.

I am interested to see him play, but I don't see it as any advantage for the Caps.

If the Caps win, it will be because Greenie goes Greenie on the Bolts and Ov has a nice game and they stay out of the penalty box. Not because of Lepisto.

While I am interested to see the kid Lepisto play and I hope that he can make a play to make something happen tonight, I felt the same way about Fehr while many of the rest here were expecting some action. Tonight is game 7 of the ten we talked about. He needs two goals in the next four games to meet the 2 goal threshold for satisfaction with his play.

I am not going to sit in front of my tv tonight looking for Sami to go Greenie on the Bolts.
