Without question, Marty is the heart and soul of this team. Jamie may wear the "C" but Marty is our leader. He is also our best player. If goalies could be Captains, Marty would have the "C." No doubt about it!!!! I don't think I am breaking any new ground with my statements. Nothing that we didn't know already.

Just very interesting that Marty has the parties, gives guys great gifts, and also gives them every reason to put their face in front of a puck for him.

We have a lot of leaders on this team, but Marty is the guy who probably calls certain players out and who consults with Lou on how to improve the club. He is also our oldest player which is hard to believe most nights.

When Marty retires, do you think Zach Parise will be "The Man?" I think he will.

We should savor Marty for as long as he plays. Once he retires, we may be in a lot of trouble if the team leadership role cannot be filled properly. If not Zach Parise, someone else will emerge.

BTW, how do you get invited to one of Marty's parties??? ;)

Langenbrunner was the winner of a 60-inch HDTV by having the final numbers in the team’s Super Bowl box pool Mike Rupp won a Mac computer and 50-inch HDTV for having the numbers for the second and third quarters.

Marty didn't give those gifts, he just hosted the party.

this is true he didint give out gifts but he had the party...he is a devil through and through and just MAD PROPS to him and madden for not going to the Neids thanksgiving gala last season...

they def live and die by the front of that jersey, thats why i think a lot of us were pissed with "trade" for holik that never happend. mad dog wants to be here, and like Marty Lives for the Devils.

Great thing Marty did for his team def a leader and as most players/posters will admit the "C" is overrated and really athe end of the day doesnt mean squat. the good part of our team is that we hava bunch of leaders and guys that give a damn....now if we can start getting some goals from other Karel and MikeY Mo:sarcasm:

I was going to make a thread about this the second I saw it, but didn't bother. Marty actually invited me, but I decided to stay home because I couldn't get to the liquor store in time to get the goose...:sarcasm:

We all know Marty is the man, no doubt. The only sad thing is that at some point, its going to come to an end. I am hoping that he becomes a coach for us very soon after he retires and stays with the team forever. I'm already anticipating telling me children about him in 10000 years when I actually do have kids.

I firmly believe Lou and Vanderbeek consult Marty about how to improve the team.

Marty is in that locker room and knows what goes on. He knows who lives and dies with each game. He knows who wants to be a Devil and who is collecting a paycheck.

Does everyone agree that Marty is "The Franchise" and talks to Lou and possibly Vanderbeek?

I love Nieder, but it shows you how Marty feels by not attending his dinner. I still don't have his book, but my friend read it and told me everything that Marty said that I wanted to know. I am waiting for it to be a bargain book at Barnes & Noble. I live on a shoestring budget.

I want to see Niedermayer at The Rock, but I don't have the bucks. Actually, the more I think about it, I wouldn't boo him, but I would go out of my way to cheer for Mike Mottau, our latest #27. Mottau is pretty darn good and I would cheer loudly when he has the puck. Just something to think about.
