Who sits? The Jersey Devil 02-04-2008, 01:15 PM With Pando expected back tonight, who shouldn't play while everyone's healthy? feerlessleadr 02-04-2008, 01:16 PM I think it said in guilliti's blog that asham told him that he is going to sit tonight devsfan4life 02-04-2008, 01:16 PM I think you'll see Asham sitting tonight. "After staying on extra at the end of today's optional morning skate, right wing Arron Asham said he had already been told he's not playing tonight." http://njmg.typepad.com/devilsblog/2008/02/expect-pandolfo.html#more cj225 02-04-2008, 01:17 PM Hahaha...just about to post the same thing about Asham! THANK GOODNESS!!! The Jersey Devil 02-04-2008, 01:18 PM I think you'll see Asham sitting tonight. Asham! MissionHockey 02-04-2008, 01:20 PM Why does Sutter insist on sitting Greene? IMO he no more defensive laspes than Vishnevski or Oduya plus he has more offensive potential than both. He just needs some games to smoothe out the wrinkles. cj225 02-04-2008, 01:24 PM Why does Sutter insist on sitting Greene? My dad and I boycotted the other night and didn't wear jerseys and they won...so I guess we'll have to do it again! captainscott 02-04-2008, 01:26 PM Why does Sutter insist on sitting Greene? IMO he no more defensive laspes than Vishnevski or Oduya plus he has more offensive potential than both. He just needs some games to smoothe out the wrinkles. i agree with u on your statment about defensive lapses but oduya brings more "o" to the table. also don't be surprised if the devils are giving oduya big minutes with martin as part of ploy to increase his trade value plus oduya is a little more physical than greene, but i think he has been fiine and it is just a numbers game MoonDragn 02-04-2008, 01:32 PM Greene is a much better skater than either of them too. When have you ever seen Greene fall down? Even on that bad ice. He's really strong on that puck when it comes to him and usually it takes a big guy to knock him down and away from the puck. ALine9900 02-04-2008, 01:35 PM Is this the first time the entire lineup has been healthy? DevsOwnYou 02-04-2008, 01:41 PM Asham has been a huge dissappointment thus far. He doesn't provide any offense which is a shame because he has a wicked slap shot. His skating has been awfully slow and his hits are to the glass or illegal. Brylin has stunk up the joint for most of the season but he has to play ahead of Pelley due to experience. Lou needs to acquire a veteran forward with some skill and a defenseman to QB the PP. feerlessleadr 02-04-2008, 01:54 PM to those talking about why greene is sitting, i think the really big reason is that his positional defense this year has been pretty sub-par. i remember reading in either TomG's blog or in the star ledger that sutter flipped out on greene for not taking the shooter in the slot but rather backing off him. I think it was also insinuated that he did that during a few games as well. obviously if greene were playing better then oduya or another defenseman in practice then sutter would switch the two, but i think we need to give a little more credit to sutter than we currently are. newfish 02-04-2008, 02:05 PM Asham has been a huge dissappointment thus far. He doesnt play enough, Id rather see him play instead of Cam and Pelly, but hey im not the coach. sinbushar 02-04-2008, 02:12 PM Stop hating on Sarge! cj225 02-04-2008, 02:15 PM For those that picked Cam, can I ask why? He hasn't been taken off of IR yet and he hasn't even played a game. Das Uber 02-04-2008, 02:35 PM For those that picked Cam, can I ask why? He hasn't been taken off of IR yet and he hasn't even played a game. Yea, he's already sitting. daveskirtun 02-04-2008, 02:36 PM I would never sit Brylin over Asham. He has put next to no effort on the ice and it infuriates me because the 4th liners work hard to get a good forecheck going and he just skates in circles. Not to mention his post game high fives are getting to me. I never thought I'd pick a player over Mike Rupp to be scratched but at least he's earning his spot. BenIgnorant 02-04-2008, 02:38 PM I didn't vote for Cam because he will be sitting anyway. Sarge is a versatile player who has lots of smarts and has the best two-way game of all these guys. Pelley is an excellent PK'er and is the best defensive player of the 4th liners. Rupp has played with the most intensity and deserves big props for taking on Ivanans and protecting Clarkson. I think Asham thought when he came to the Devils that he would have a 3rd line role and get to play a lot of quality minutes. But he didn't earn them and he's been slacking off for a long time. He isn't playing the body much and hasn't played with enough heart for the 7 minutes he's on the ice. Yeah he has some skill but not enough to play a finesse game. Not much of a question who sits and who plays for me. Asham and Janssen sit, Rupp, Pelley, Brylin play. BTW...how do you make the avatars bigger? Mine can only be really small and I can barely see the picture. AfroThunder396 02-04-2008, 02:42 PM Amazing what 15 games can do to Mike Rupp's perception on this board. Blitz113 02-04-2008, 02:43 PM I wonder if Asham will end up being traded. MoonDragn 02-04-2008, 02:43 PM Yes, but who do you want to sit out more than anyone? Asham! Oh? Do ya? cj225 02-04-2008, 02:44 PM Oh? Do ya? Well everyone knows that already, but that wasn't an option, so Asham is the next best one. BenIgnorant 02-04-2008, 02:45 PM Amazing what 15 games can do to Mike Rupp's perception on this board. Amazing what getting in game shape and playing with desire can do for Rupp. Amazing what playing like you don't give a damn does for Asham. MoonDragn 02-04-2008, 04:18 PM Amazing what getting in game shape and playing with desire can do for Rupp. Amazing what playing like you don't give a damn does for Asham. Its a shame really, Asham is the one with the better skills. Rupp has problems with his shots going where he wants but Asham can shoot it wherever when he's actually trying. Amazing what 15 games can do to Mike Rupp's perception on this board. Sarge is wildly important to the team aside from scoring, as he plays a great PK (and no, Elias and Gionta shouldn't lose even strength PEG shifts for the PK...) and gives defensively responsible minutes at even strength, with the occasional goal (with 5 goals and 10 points, certainly more offense than any other 4th liner...) And what can I say. I think Rupper stinks, but he has earned the new look due to relentless effort and a lot of heart, aka the old fashioned Devils way. Gotta hand it to the guy for resurrecting this season for himself... Asham sits. (And preferably gets traded...) BrodeurRULES 02-04-2008, 06:41 PM Anyone that picked Sarge should be ashamed of themselves :) | ||
