Heres a couple deadline proposals. Flame away.

NJ gets: Marleau
SJ gets: Gionta, Greene, and a 2nd

NJ gets: Stoll
EDM gets: Gionta + 2nd?

The first deal isnt likely since SJ will want to hold onto Marleau but I was trying to get the value right. I would like Lou to go after Stoll. Elias needs a center. Anyone think Gionta + could fetch him?

agreed. Also that Marleu trade doesn't look half horrible, with the way he's been playing it seems about fair. Again... with the way he's been playing do we want him?

My only gripe with trading Gionta for a center is that we don't have a 1st Line RW to take over once he's gone, unless you plan to shift Zubrus over or promote Langs (both of which in my eyes are weaker than Gio on scoring), and this plan is only worse if we trade Gio for a D man because then we get no offense in return. Our RW prospects, for the moment, aren't that hot.
You have to assume that Elias goes back to LW once we get another center.

Parise/Elias-Zajac-Langs/Zubrus.

Personally I think we're better off now. If a center can be had without losing Parise, Elias, Gionta, or Zajac (Tall order but unfortunately these are things you have to think about), we'll improve a lot on the top 2 lines. IMHO, if we lose any of those 4, we're at worst decreasing in offense and at best increasing only marginally.

I doubt edmonton moves stoll now that horcoff is lost for the season. but i agree with you that gionta is the main piece that will move if a deal is made.

Why not just throw Zach on RW?

You have to give to get and gionta and zajac are our only tradeable top 6 players. Zubrus is a natural RW so he would be moved back to his position. We lose a good winger, but we need a center much more. we have decent wing depth even wihtout Gio. It would leave us with

Elias-Stoll-Zubrus
PZL

Our top 3 RWs (Zubrus, Langs, Clarkson) could all be interchanged to form the best lines.

yea i realized that after, but since EDM is most likely gonna tank again they might want to open spots ot see what their young guys (Schremp?) can do.

I don't know about that. It looks like Edmonton is out of contention and may just be willing to get rid of some guys for picks and prospect, or more NHLers.

If the PEG and ZZL lines continue to produce (I have to see more considering LA was a god awful defensive team) I could see Lou just going after help on the blueline. Just my opinion though. But maybe Lou looks for depth on the 3rd/4th line considering Asham hasn't cut it, Rupp may go back to his old stiff ways, and since Janssen really hasn't played in the playoffs

I proposed a Liles trade on the Trade Proposals boards. I included Greene, a 3rd Round Pick, and a Conditional 2nd Round Pick on the condition that Liles re-ups with us. But I would definetly throw in another defenseman like Rachunek or Vishnevski to sweeten the pot.

I wouldn't mind Marleau but I don't think Stoll is even worth Gionta. He's just another two-way player with decent scoring ability kind of like Zajac. I don't know i have never been a Stoll fan.

We need more scoring and better blueliners so a guy like Boyle or Campbell would fit that bill to a point.

Our number one need is a dman who can help out on offense. I would love to get Boyle or Campbell.

Well, the guy I really want is Kaberle, but I can't see Toronto letting him go even if they are out of the playoffs.

how bout Stoll and Pitkanen? It would take a hell of alot. I still think Stoll + for Gionta could be a good deal.
