Lalime is better for the Hawks. Khabi can make some crazy saves sometimes, but he lets in soft goals way too often that kill the spirit of the team. Lalime does the basics better and you have to work to beat him, but doesn't let in as many softies. If your defense is good and can keep shooters outside and limit quality chances, it really helps Lalime out. Khabibulin on the other hand, it doesn't matter how good the defense is, he will let in at least one soft goal per game. He has 1 shutout in the last 3 years I think?

Oh, and Khabi makes almost 7 million per year and Lalime only makes less than 1 million. Almost 6 million bucks to spend on more quality players up front if you only had to pay Lalime. Please God, someone take Khabi off our hands.

I voted they both suck, even though I don't think they suck per se. Just neither can steal you a game (which I think Khabi CAN do but never WILL do). With either in net you're going to have to put in at least three goals to be sure because both are going to let some in. As often as Khabi plays well and comes in big for the team (the first 4 Detroit games come to mind) you'd think he could do it with a bit more consistency, but no he just ***** the bed and lets in soft goals every damn game.

Not to mention his insane contract

Bulin beats Lalime in the only stat that matters--Stanley Cups.

So I guess you would rather have Bulin than Luongo or Kiprusoff, since he beats them both in stanley cups too?

Patrick Lalime was an underrated goalie. He suffered a pretty bad injury and was never the same.

Yes, his stats were inflated by playing with Ottawa, but it's not like he didn't pull his weight or steal games for the team. In fact, his legacy defined by having that one bad game against Toronto defining his career is unfair.

He was a very solid goalie at his peek and is a fantastic team player. I always wished nothing but the best for him after he left, even if I supported him leaving... it was his time to move on and it's dissapointing that he is now a backup goalie, most likely for the rest of his career (barring a Alex Auld/Ty Conklin kind of chance).

Nonetheless, I still think Khabibulin is significantly better. Lalime must be one of the best (true) backup goalies in ther league though.
