Canadian defense has done an incredible job against them and the weaknesses of the US defense and Smith were exposed.

Reemer has good speed and great hands for a man his size, he's a really good passer.

Mason has been good enough. He's made the saves he's had to and has made some good saves as well. However, he's going down too early and too often, his rebound control has been aweful and he doesn't track the puck well.

Again, he has played well enough, but more credit should go to Schenn, Alzner, Doughty and Hickey for being excellent today, expecially Schenn.

I'm actually cheering for the US in this tournament. Canada thoroughly dominated the first two periods and being the defensive juggernaught that they were there was no way the Americans were coming back from a 2 goal defecit. That being said I was certainly not expecting the US to totally fall apart at the start of the 3rd.

Takes some pretty big nerves for Mason to pull a performance like he did today. Lots of critics about the starting job, traded from your junior team, while he wasn't extremely put to the test, he did a great job.

Thought Bernier should have get the game, doesn't mean that I thought Mason is a slouch. Always said he would be a steal of his draft year.

Sweden will be much tougher to beat boys, but you bring it like you did today, and it should be just fine.

Okposo would've had a great game if the object of hockey was to shoot as many weak, unscreened shots from the top of the circle that have absolutely no chance of going in. It seemed like the American game plan was to shoot from anywhere, even when they had opportunities to try and advance it to the front of the net for a real scoring chance.

Mason was good, but he never had to be great. The Americans had plenty of useless long range shots, but very few actual dangerous scoring opportunities. Credit to the Canadian defense for that.

1. It was offside by so slight of a margin that only seeing a frame by frame slow-mo replay picked it up.

2. The shot that the play resulted in was very saveable for a decent goaltender

3. It really didn't matter. The US weren't going to win today regardless.

Honestly, I couldn't be more impressed with both teams. Such an entertaining game, the Americans got a bit unlucky a few times and it cost them, there is nothing to be ashamed of. If both teams played each other 10 times, it would probably be a 5-5 outcome.

They do it in EVERY game...even the prelims. It's actually awesome. I was at the tourney in Vancouver, and it's great for the fans. Teams like Slovakia (whose fans travelled really well to Vancouver), get to give their fans a chance to hear their anthem with pride, and everyone can snap pictures, etc. It's a great show of respect.
