Bernier/Canadians are being cheated by a terrible coach

I'm sorry but this deserves it's own thread. It's bad enough having to watch Canada play Hartsburg system, but this latest decision to play Mason over Bernier is an absolute disgrace. Bernier gives us our best chance (most would say only chance) to win gold and Hartsburg benches him? People should be up in arms over this.

I agree we would had the best chance with Bernier. I cannot believe how he's been slighted. WTH is wrong with Hartsburg? What did Bernier do? He deserved to be in net on Friday especially after Mason's lacklustre performance. Him sitting on the bench is just wrong and it makes me sick how he's been treated. He should have been the #1 guy from the beginning, end of story.

Doesn't really matter, both goalies are excellent and neither are losing games for us. Our biggest problem right now is putting the puck in the other net.

Today I root for USA, simple as that.

Goaltending is not the problem. It's a half defence and half offence. Considering Mason hasn't lost a game this position is the least of our worries.

Hartsburg has lost one game at the WJHC in two years.

Mason is an excellent goalie, as is Bernier.

Everyone needs to calm down. We lost one close game and are still alive in the tournament, so put away the tar and feathers.

He may not have lost but look at who's he's played against. Weak opposition to say the least. Slovakia and Denmark were both in the relegation round and deservedly so. Finland beat out Kazakhstan and a relegated Swiss team to make it out of their group with a much weaker team than they usually ice at this tournament. The fact is, if Mason plays the way he did against Finland on Friday, Canada will not win. You can get away with letting in softies against weaker teams but that will not fly against an elite team like the USA.

Losing one game in a year plus a round robin minus USA/Russia isn't really the greatest accomplishment for a Canadian coach, especially when you consider all the returnees that were on that 07 team. IMO Bernier is the best teenage goalie in the world who has played one bad period of hockey in the past month and is thus being stapled to the bench. I hope I eat my words and Mason comes out and gets a win Friday but the truth is I, along with most others would feel significantly more confident with Bernier between the pipes.

his first mistake was second guessing his decision the first time, he's pretty much put himself in a corner and has to play Mason.

Well all the Mason haters are really sitting pretty. If Canada wins then they just say well Bernier would've played better, and if Canada loses they can break out the I told you so's.
