Why is Prucha on the bench?

After he scores two goals they suddenly bench him, claiming an "injury" - LOL

They're trying to deal him like Malik, unfortunately Pru might be wanted somewhere.

Why must NYR lie to us like this?

He was slashed on the wrist last in the game vs. Toronto on Saturday night.

Why wouldn't he be playing if he could? The Rangers could not have been upset with his game vs. the Leafs. He played real well.

Who would scratch a player after a two goal game?

According to hockeyrodent.com:
Well, now we know the truth behind Petr Prucha's absence from the lineup Sunday night. When head coach Tom Renney implored his troops to be more visceral on the ice, the young lad (just 2¼ years immersed in English) asked countryman Jaromir Jagr what this word meant. Tom took the whispering as a sign of disrespect and benched Kid Kourageous before warmups.

That stuff about Antropov's slash and the wrist-taping display by the dasher was all for public consumption. C'mon. You could lop off Peter Puck's arm at the shoulder and he'd still be game to play.
That can't be true. I sincerely hope that's not true.

If that's true... :shakehead

Since when has the hockeyrodent ever been correct about anything? Gimme a break. He has as much credibility as Eklund.

Um, I believe that was printed with tounge firmly in rodent cheek. Do you really think Renney is the kind of guy to bench a player for a perceived slight?

C'mon he was making a joke, Renney's not that much of an ass hole.

Especially since it was n interplay with Jags, you'd think he'd set coach straight. The Rodent has a bigger mancrush on Prucha than Jake1970 has on Lundqvist! :biglaugh:

Renney has an unnatural affection for Marcel Hossa, who is beyond useless. If his last name was not Hossa, he would have been out of the league a long time ago.

I made the same point a few threads back, it makes no sense to me why Renney would give Hossa countless chances on the first line with Jagr & give Prucha the bums rush.

Hossa is a little more physical & better with body down low but can't convert any of his chances, Prucha isn't as physical or impossing, but he certantily tries to be.

Useless? I don't think so, I think he's got some value. But I do agree that if his last name was something like Schmidt he probably wouldn't have even been drafted. Does everyone realize this guy was a 1st round pick? What a joke!

We watched Prucha very closely during warmups against Montreal, and it was obvious there was a problem. He was having trouble stickhandling and couldn't shoot. If he attempted 2 shots the entire warmup, I'd be surprised. We were fairly close to the bench and watched as Ramsey wrapped it up, and there was a very obvious welt on his lower forearm, just above his wrist. He left the ice before the final two drills (breakaways and one-timers), which is unusual for him.

Maybe he could have played last night. But against Montreal, I doubt it. Well, he probably could have, but wouldn't have been 100% and wouldn't have been able to shoot, so you can't blame Renney for holding him out.

Well, he has all the physical tools to be an excellent offensive contributor and he posted 90 points in 58 games his last Junior season. He was a first round pick because of his perceived potential, which likely had very little to do with his name.

The only reason they're keeping Marcel around and giving him playing time is so he will convince his brother to sign here this summer :yo:

It's like when Inner Path brought Robert in as a way to get Raymond to join them :naughty:
