lol

My favorite was a Getzlaf goal. I think it was against Khabibulin and the Blackhawks earlier this year. It was similar to the one he scored tonight.

Either Getzlaf's one-on-one goal vs. Minny, or Sammi's solo goal in Game 2 of the finals.

It was not too long ago, it was a play more than the goal itself.

Getzlaf pretends is close to the blueline, fakes the pass, does some fancy stick handling, gets in front of the crease, passes to Perry who is standing by the post just to shoot it in.

Yeah that was the one I was thinking of. That pretty much turned the tide of the whole playoffs as we went 5-1 from then on.

HM: Perry's final goal to make it 6-2 or whatever in game 5 of the Finals. Just made the celebration that much sweeter.

HM2: Niedermayer's OT series winner versus the Canucks. Just the whole play was great, from Rob's hit to the shot to the goal. Plus I particularly enjoyed all the whining that ensued.

There's so many good things about this goal. The entire play is what the 2007 Ducks were all about, with the Rob's huge hit. Luongo, who everyone was pimping as invincible and better than Giguere's 2003 run (I'll admit he was close for the few games he played, but the fact that Jiggy did it for 4 rounds blows it away), loses the series on the softest goal ever as he's too busy playing ref. And his collapse on the ice was key too.

The goal was timely (double overtime) and unexpected (OMG! factor). I wasn't sure that game was ever going to end, especially after Sabourin shut them out for a bit.

Even though I saw this game from the Ducks broadcast, I'd been watching a lot of this from the CBC feed, with Jim "Vancouver homer" Hughson. Hearing his heart break in the replays is just great. Just listen to how long it took for the CBC announcers to figure out why he let the goal in, they keep assuming that it must have been tipped because Luongo would never let in a soft goal. Ahlers and Hayward picked it up within a couple replays.

And like Lux, I remember the huge whinefest that ensued. A fitting end with the way the fans were for the earlier games. "Pitchfork!" "Elbow!" Although after hearing the CBC, I can't really blame the fans. They're just being mindless parrots of what the announcers say. Hayward is a homer, but he's also mostly right (he just ignores the bad calls against the other teams and such, he is rarely biased against the other team and wrong). I feel like the Vancouver broadcast was sometimes downright wrong, and the fans all grabbed it and ran without any independent thought. Somewhat disappointing, but understandable.

My favorite non-goal was that DiPenta breakaway out of the box. Flashbacks to the little engine that could.

The series-clinching Niedermayer goal when Luongo had turned his head to complain to the official stands out in my mind.

This season, the first Weight/Ryan goal was a thing of beauty, as were about a half-dozen of Getzy's goals.

My pick also, if it weren't for that win, I think Detroit would have taken the series.

About 1:15 in, Niedermayer's goal vs. Detroit in game 5. Lidstrom may be the best d-man in the league, but on that night Nieds was better and banked (what I think) saved the Ducks playoffs off him into the net. More than the "pretty factor" of the goal, I think the emotion behind it was what made it special. It was that moment that hope turned into belief for me that the Ducks could do it. With Giguere out of the net for the extra attacker and less than 1 minute left... man I was yelling at the TV when he scored that.

The Getzlaf shorty against Minn was the first one that I thought of.

Then Teemu embarassing Liljja and Hasek. Can't watch that one enough times.

If you listen well, you can hear Lilja's stick breaking (you can also see him in the upper right corner) after teemu scored :)

Mine was definatley one that getzlaf scored in the game against the boston bruins earlier this season. Chara had it in his defensive zone twice and getzlaf absolutely demolished him BOTH times. After he hit chara away from the pucj the 2nd time getzlaf get a pass back from from one of his defensemen and scores.

That goal is what should be showed to the team before every game. Its the way this teamwas built to play.

i love the pahlsson game winner in the cup finals....my favorite part was that alfredsson the b1tch quit on the play otherwise pahlsson would have never got a shot off. haha i would love to see alfredsson's face after that play knowing that HE blew the game with his lazy backcheck.
