is it just me or is he less excited in his commentating in this years tourny. maybe its because crosby and dion arent playing.

"its just tow ships colliding" has been my fav quote so far.

anyone else have any other gems?

The thing getting to me is his constant picking on Brett MacLean, mentioning how MacLean really wants Tavares back in Oshawa, and making it seem like MacLean is useless without Tavares. Of course, the fact that MacLean has a goal in every game since Tavares left (5 in 5) must not matter to him.

They were showing the Canadian bench celebrating their 3rd goal and he remarks
" the players are reacting positively"

How else should they respond?

Haha, I was thinking the same thing...maybe they could show the Finnish bench and he could provide some insight on how they reacted?

Not a comment on Pierre, but I think the Canadian players are responding TOO positively, jumping up and down like a bunch of little kids. You score to go up 3-2, you celebrate modestly and then go back to work.

I've never been a fan of overly exuberant celebrations until you've won the gold.

So how do you feel about broadcasters saying someone passes or shoots? Those are pretty duh things to say too.

Gotta disagree here. This tournament has always been about emotion like that. You rarely will see a WJHC team score a goal to go ahead, even in the first or second periods and not go pretty crazy. Especially in tight games, it's one of the things that make this tourney so good. I don't want to see them act like Professionals and tap each other on the helmet and move on immediately. Relish it for a few seconds together, THEN move on.

Mcguiresīs been complaining about the game (cze - rus) how defensive it is i donīt know how many times.. but its a lot better than the CAN-FIN game earlier... and Canada hasnīt exactly been playing that GREAT offensively as well.

To me Mcguire has been Mcguire thus far in this tournament, he has been good at times and bad at other times. Still on Monday he raised a good point that the qualifying tournaments for the 2 new teams into these tournaments should be held a month or two before the actual tournament. Reason being, you are seeing teams qualifying one year with players who aren't on the team the next year because of their age.

That's not exactly a unique idea...Bob McKenzie has been saying that for many years.

I find it that he's been having his usual orgy's this year, this year the guy is Brandon Sutter, to follow in suit of the great Dion Phaneuf and Sidney Crosby.

Not having Zach Parise either makes Pierre a lot more quiet, although he will surely mention his name at some point in the Canada-USA game.

This tournament has always been like this. They're teenagers playing in the biggest games of their lives and representing their country, of course they're going to be jacked up.

I agree, and I wouldn't have it any other way. You can see the joy in the players' eyes and I don't want to seem corny but I can feel it too.

I think McGuire has some kind of agenda against the rules of hockey. I could only laugh when Sutter was taken out of one play ...clear Interference as another player dumped the puck into the Finnish zone...Sutter was simply pursuing the dump in, the penalty was called ....McGuire said he didn't like the call and that it was "just the way they call it over here". That has to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard him complain about.

When you have nothing to do with the puck and you get taken out of the play with a solid check, it is Interference in any league.

Pierre needs to get away from covering this tournament.Spending Christmas and New Year's Eve with Gord Miller in some remote location is getting to Pierre.

Well if you looked away, were in another room or were blind you might not know they passed the puck. Even if you're mentally retarded you would know that players of a team that scored a big goal would react positively.
