Alright, so I'm going to the Devils game vs. Buffalo on the 8th. I want to spend the 9th in the city. I am driving down from Albany to the stadium but staying at a hotel in Elizabeth. I need to find a way to get from there to NYC like subway or something? I can take a taxi to Newark since it's only a few minutes away but then I'm lost. Someone from jersey or the city help me! Thankss!

Use the bus system.

The fastest way is to take the Path from the World Trade Center to Newark. And depending on where you're staying in City, take the NY Subway "R" Train Downtown and get off at the City Hall stop on Broadway and walk a few blocks to the World Trade Center Station. Once you get off in Newark, follow the crowd, the arena is a few blocks away. Have fun!

Wait, why are you staying in Elizabeth?

There was going to be an extension of the Newark Subway to Elizabeth but it's on hold. Stay in Newark (Gateway Hilton) or stay in NYC instead.

NYC and Newark are directly linked by both PATH Subway and NJ Transit rail. NJ Transit is much faster but a tad more expensive.

Depends where in Elizabeth. If your hotel is across from Jersey Gardens Mall you could take the 111 bus to Port Authority from the mall by Loews. If you are staying on Rts 1&9 you can take NJT from the Airtrain station, which requires a hotel shuttle van to Station P4 and the Airtrain to the Railink stop.

I would see if your hotel has shuttle service to the train station in Elizabeth. If not, you can always drive to the train station, but I'm not sure what the parking situation is there. Train ride from Elizabeth to NYC Penn Station isn't very long. Use the NJ transit website. You could take a bus I suppose, but they are affected by traffic and the train is not, so the train is much better.

Why not just drive?

Why not just drive?

Lol, thats what I was thinking. It would be so easy to just hop on 95, spend the day in the city, and get on 87 and drive home.

Exactly, and there is plenty of free parking on the UWS (especially on the day he's coming in, since there are no alternate side parking rules on Wednesday). It may take 20 minutes to find a spot, but it sure beats the hastle of the trip back and forth to Elizabeth. Your best bet is the UWS between 73rd and 95th and there are subway stops at Broadway and 72nd, 79th, 86th, and 96th that will have you in midtown in 15 minutes at the absolute worst.
