Mason is getting the start today... do you think they will go back to Bernier after this? I can't see this being an overly heavy workload for Mason, although these days anything can happen.

A player to watch on Denmark will be Mikkel Boedker of the Kitchener Rangers, really talented player.

The only information I have is that the quarters are on Jan 2nd at 10am and 2pm (they would be playing in one of those if they finished 2nd)

The semis are Jan 4th at 10am and 2pm which they would get a bye into if they finished first.

Gold Medal game is Jan 5 at 2pm
Bronze Medal game is Jan 5 at 10am

From Tsn:

A goaltending change won't be the only difference for Team Canada. In a bid to generate more 5-on-5 offense, Hartsburg has decided to change up his forward lines as well. Canada has scored just eight goals in its three games so far and five of those have come on the power play. While Canada's top line of Brad Marchand-Kyle Turries-Claude Giroux will likely remain intact, the biggest beneficiary of the changes could be Oshawa Generals' forward John Tavares.

Tavares, who is tied with Kyle Turris for most goals scored on the team with 2, has been moved up to the second line, where he'll skate between Matt Halischuk and Shawn Matthias. Prior to the start of the tournament, Tavares had been viewed as mainly a power play specialist and had not been placed on permanent line.
Related Info

Some other changes include Steve Stamkos replacing Riley Holzapel as the fourth line center and Colton Gillies moving to the wing of the third line.

I'm not upset at all that they have to play in the quarters. This team hasn't gelled yet so an extra game could end up helping them instead of sitting idle for the whole week.

Hey, I am disapointed they lost, but a quarterfinal game is all right with me (if they win of course) as long as it keeps the legs fresh.

It's just so funny!! Who will be his man love next year?

Since Tavares will still be eligible (and will play unless there's other circumstances)...Tavares.

Good to see Tavares sounds like he's playing well (err...just getting information from this thread).

Godfrey misses the net, again.

It's nice to see Tavares get more ice time, but this is Denmark. Was it against Sweden or Slovakia where he got extra 5-on-5 time and was getting knocked off the puck with ease?

Welcome to the John tavares WJC show!!!
We get it Pierre. He's a good player!!
He seems to better on his skates today, the previous games he was knocked down a lot. With the goal he scored you can see why he leads the OHL in scoring, that was a nice quick release upstairs.

Does anybody else think Pierre has a boner for Tavares?

I have one after that period too

He just gets excited about super high talent. It's better than some color guys who try to say something good about everyone.

If a player dominates a period like JT just did, you better talk about him

Wow, can someone explain to me why Tavares got no time for the first 3 games? He's probably been Canada's best player so far today.

apparently he's a lousy defensive player who can't skate ... what I've seen thus far is the exact opposite but anyhow, we're internet guys and we can't question our great hockey minds that have won 2 billion games in a row.

Tavares has been very impressive, especially considering his young age.
A 17 year old excelling in an U20 tourney is pretty rare.
I was skeptical about the guy until I saw the past few games. This guy is going to be something at the pro level...

Bob MaKenzie just gave a great and realistic explanation of John Tavares, how he made the team only b/c of his reputation, but he's adjusted to the big ice and to playing 30 second shifts and giving his all, instead of pacing himself over a 2 minute shift as he does in the OHL.

Early in the tournament Tavares was only getting a few shifts each game and looked like he didn't have much confidence and was just playing like he was scared of making a mistake because he knew that could lead to him being benched for the rest of the game. Now the coach is showing confidence in him and Tavares looks more comfortable. It's nice to finally see why he is dominating the OHL. He has good creativity, but seems to have a good sense of when to try something creative and when to just get the puck to the net.

Alzner has been far from a standout in this tourney. The first period turnover he made was Junior Bish. Did not check his near side support and gave it right to the second Dane following the play.

Hickey has not been error free either but to say he is far behind Alzner is unfair. I am assuming they see Hickey replacing Lubo in 2-3 years.
