RedMenace 12-31-2007, 12:03 AM Just watched the Ducks/Canucks game, and I really want to know which one is the play-by-play guy, and which one is the color commentator. I like the style, more of a free-flowing conversation...
... of course, that's not to say I like Hayward and Ahlers... :)
Belanger25 12-31-2007, 12:42 AM Ahlers: PBP
Haywood: Color.

Cool... the fact that they sound similar doesn't help matters much. :)
Thanks!
Ducks 12-31-2007, 02:18 PM if you watch them enough it gets pretty easy to pick them out, but I guess they do sound a bit similar at first.
Philoushka 12-31-2007, 03:11 PM which one pronounces the defenceman's name as "Beauchamay" ?
snarktacular 12-31-2007, 03:25 PM Both, and they both say it right.
From the Ducks site: boh-sheh-MEH, frahn-SWUH (link (http://ducks.nhl.com/team/app?page=PlayerDetail&playerId=8467400&service=page&tab=prf))
Nikko 12-31-2007, 03:35 PM I usually hear Hayward pronouncing the N at the end of the name so it sounds like Bo-sheh-man.

Everybody was calling him that last year. I'm glad its "may", it sounds infinitely better than "min".

anyone who pronounces the last syllable as "MAY" is 100% incorrect....
Chemin de fer is not Che-MAY de fer...
the last syllable is really more like MAAAAH (as in a whiny waaah...)
as in the A in the word "Alley"
Bo-shuh-mahhh is closer... it's all in the degree of french accent you have, and neither Duck announcer has an iota :-)

That's a good thing, yes?

Francois' accent is pretty thick, and the announcers are pronouncing his name per his preference. So no, they're not wrong.

but he said 100%!
Davey Duck 01-04-2008, 07:11 PM During a game last season, I think Hayward said something to the effect of this...
"I asked Francios if it was pronounced Bo-sheh-may or Bo-sheh-min and he replied 'Yes'."
Spankatola Jamnuts 01-04-2008, 08:33 PM There you go. Definitive proof.
Trust the French!
