Last night's fights

Sorry but I'm too hung over to browse through the GDT and I wasn't around for the game. Although, I was at a bar for UFC and the Giants and apparently the only hockey team that counts, even in Central NJ, is the Rags.

I was able to to catch the 3 bouts on Youtube and I gotta say:

Mottau - WOW did he throw some bombs on Comrie. I was stunned that he even scrapped with someone to begin with, but man did he throw some massive punches in that fight and connected on quite a few. I'm not going in to who won so it turns into a big debate. But man, I never would have though Mikey had it in him. He was definitely dishing out a baaaaaaston beatdown.

Clarkson - not as exciting as the Mottau fight but I thought it was funny how he and Billy had a little conversation on the face-off before deciding to drop them. I also give Billy credit for stepping up to a younger more able bodied guy, and Clarkson for stepping it up to yet another teams captain and veteran player. I really appreciate having this guy on our team, he's got a lot to offer and he's still young in his career.

Rupp - Don't like the fact he was playing, but based on the video I saw...did he basically knock out Andy Sutton? He throw one bomb that caught him pretty flush, which he took, but the last punch before he fell looked like it took out his legs and when he got up he wasn't looking so good. Gotta tip my hat to Rupp for that, simply because Sutton is a big, tough, dude.

Still wish we'd waive the ****in guy already...but whatever.

Also, is Elias hurt? I heard he didn't play last night, or got hurt in the game or something.

I was at the Giants game and had the devs taped. Basically, that one punch from Rupp is what did it for Sutton, who, btw, acted like a biatch the entire game. I kind of wanted to fight him myself, even though he has like 10" on me.

Elias has a tweaked groin and is day-to-day

man I wish I was at that Giants game. Unfortunately, I was at the Redskins game 2 weeks ago. Even though we lost...I don't even care because we still put a whoopin on that team for being 15-0 and far better than us on paper.

It would have been great to hang on to the lead and win it, but considering we put up more points than any other team has on them so far (supposedly) and the way we played...I'm happy coming off a loss like that into the Wildcard.

Rupp was getting pounded by Sutton but to his credit he managed to keep his composure and get loose for one great punch which caught Sutton flush and knocked him to the ice.

Last night and the fighting sums up why I love Devils/Isles games. The two teams aren't fighting out of hate or malice--they have tremendous respect for each other. But the fighting is a natural outgrowth of the kind of physical, spirited hockey that both clubs play, and it makes it fun to watch for any fan.

And you beat us. Again.

Hmm. That's definitely a rarity as that must be the only bar in New Jersey to favor the NYR over the Devils and it's too bad you just so happened to pick the only bar to do so.

Knowing the typical NYR fan who resides in New Jersey, it's probaby an aging fellow who spends a lot of money there by ordering old man drinks like a Rusty Nail and reeks like cigarette & cigar smoke. So unfortunately, the bartender might be obliged to tune the TV to MSG soe he can be the only person in a 20 mile radius actually watching a NYR telecast. He usually clutches the racing forum sections of the Post or News and usually blows all his money at the tracks, Atlantic City or at OTB in the City. If he's not sitting at that same bar stool, he's probably at home abusing his family or hanging out that local corner bodega playing the lottery and scratch off games.

Unfortunately, I know several NYR fan neighbors who fit into this stereotypical category

I suggest in the future, you take your business elsewhere. ;)

Well, I was really there for football and UFC. But it was packed with about 200 people and I dunno that it was someone asking for it to be on, or just the fact they left it on.

Sad part is, I didn't even stay for the fight...so I easily could have just watched the Devils game and then went out for the fight. Oh well.

i have alot of respect for "skill" players or even players that arent known for fighting but still drop'em when they deem necessary in this new era of hockey there are certain guys that will fight and not dois much else, that why i liked the fact that mottau comrie and guerin (not so much clarkson because obviously he fights alot) all fought their own battles and not had some 4th line goons do it

All 3 of those fights were very strategic. We were slowing down and needed a boost and each one of those fights took out one of their top players in exchange of one of our lesser players. It was a good trade but they couldn't capitalize on it.
