It looks as if JVR, Colin Wilson, Okposo, Schroeder and Sanguinetti are doing well.

Those would be my answers as well. All look like they are having fantastic tournaments with JVR a bit more dominating than anyone else.

I agree, I am glad my Flyers took JVR.

Yeah. It sucks to see a life-long Rangers fan in that... jersey. Yuck.

If anyone remembers that draft, when Clark got up to say who Philly was picking, he forgot his pick's name. I think he wanted to pick Sanguinetti but had to pick Girouix instead.

I'm not sure if you're serious, but I highly doubt that would ever happen. Plus, I think Sanguinetti was already gone.

you miss read it I think. Clarke DID forget Giroux's name when he went up to draft. The poster was suggesting that the reason for this is that Clarke had wanted to take Sanguinetti but couldn't BECAUSE he went a pick or two before Giroux.
Elias to Parise 12-29-2007, 04:02 PM JVR played on my roller hockey team when I was in 7th grade and now he's the best player for team USA. Crazyness.

jealous?
Sedongo 12-31-2007, 02:29 PM Why is it so hard to believe? If he was going to make something up, why would he pick gr. 7 roller hockey team?

It's not that hard to believe...my friend played with Tavares when they were like 8, all the kids called him "The one"
How is Ruegsgegger doing?
Centers the 1st line (don't know if you can still call it the 1st line), has 2 goals and 4 points through the first 4 games, named assistant captain.
Not bad for a 6th round pick.
DungeonK 12-31-2007, 04:33 PM The better question is who predicted Team USA would do this well :handclap:
Jimmi Jenkins 12-31-2007, 04:35 PM Yeah sure he did..:shakehead
My brother played with Kyle Chipchura, and in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League, while guys like Phaneuf and MacArthur were there. It's not that suprising. The better ones just go places.

Yes I have nothin better to do but make things up like that.

While we're on the topic of this, Andy Andreoff is in a bunch of my classes at school, and he's filling in for Tavares on the Generals right now.

He had the game winner today vs Finland and has four points in four games. A very solid performer for Team USA.
My neighbour used to play with Sean Avery and would hang out with him from time to time.
Also had a friend who played for the Plymouth Whalers when Legwand was there. He also got to practice with Fedorov while he was there.
Don;t know why someone wouldn't believe someone else about knowing a hockey player. They are all human just like us and grew up around the corner from a lot of us.
Also forgot to mention Jay Harrison of the Leafs. I had so many buddies who were real tight with him back when he was like 16 playing with the Legionaires. I would see him at parties from time to time but just never really "hung out" with him.

Hey, I know the kid personally because I went to CBA quite often (his old high school) for get togethers with friends and all. Good kid. I wouldn't doubt that another person from NJ knows him/met him numerous times.

he went to Pioneer HS when he lived in ann arbor, so (since half of UMich seems to be from Pioneer) a lot of my friends still hear from him pretty regularly.

Yes we are in the Semis. We play the winner of the Finland/Canada game.
Synergy27 01-02-2008, 11:10 AM I worked for a small landscaping company during my summers while I was in college (the last year was '05) and the Van Riemsdyk's were one of our clients. Myself and a couple of the guys I worked with all play hockey together so James' mom would always come out to talk hockey with us (his dad is actually a former semi-pro hockey player, so it's a family thing for him). What's funny is that at the time I figured all of the stories she was telling us about how good her son was was just typical "bragging mother" stuff. It didn't really hit me that her stories were legitimate until the first time I saw his name come up on HF mock drafts and what not.
Talk about a lame connection to a hockey player... haha.
