John Madden Question

Sorry to start a thread about this but this has been bugging me for a while

do you guys remember the goal madden scored 1 or 2 years ago when he came out of the box snuck up behind the other teams pointman took the puck right off his stick and scored a breakaway goal

if someone could maybe tell me the date/team or just post the video i would really appreciate it.

I remember a play like this from opening night of the 02-03 season against the Senators.

Opening night of the '03 Stanley Cup season. It's on the DVD. Madden scored both Devils goals that night against the Sens. One had to be reviewed because it ripped through the net to the other side and the second was his breakaway.

It was the 05-06 season. He got Jason Wiemer's stick and stripped alfredsson. It was march 26 06.

John Madden has been known around these parts for developing stone hands on shorthanded breakaways after leading the league in the category at one point. But this was during "The Streak". When the Devils had magic more crazy delicious than Mr. Pibb and Red Vines combined.

Madden had broken his stick in a game in Ottawa and gotten one of Jason Wiemer's twigs. He came off the bench, stole the puck from Daniel Alfredsson, who was winding up for a slapshot, and took it away shorthanded. He moved in untouched, and beat Ray Emery on the backhand. It was the signature moment for MadDog of the regular season, and the Devils got a huge 3-2 shootout win.

It was a great play by Pandolfo as well, who shifted over to the opposite side of the ice to cover for madden.

Edit...I found it on nhl.tv Go to game highlights, then select march 28 06 as the date. Unfortunately, it's a bad clip. It really doesn't show the whole play develop. You just see Madden pick Alfredsson's pocket and score on a breakaway.

Wasn't there another one where Madden's stick broke and Wiemer was on the ice, handed him his stick and Madden scored on a breakaway goal? I think that was also during the streak.

I was just about to say I remembered what you were talking about because I remember my friends laughing about it for awhile after he scored. Great stuff there.
