How about this proposal? Like I have seen above, now is the perfect time to trade Lindros. The Rangers need a D-Man and the Wings could use a big center. Here is my proposal:

Rangers Get: D Jiri Fischer, C Jiri Hudler, Detroits 1st rounder 04.

Detroit Gets: C Eric Lindros, D Fedor Tyutin, Rangers 1st rounder 04.

Now let me break it down.

Lindros is a potential UFA after this year, meaning he could walk away in July.
Fischer has at least five-seven (depending on the CBA outcome) years before he can become a UFA.
Fischer's trade value is better than Lindros.

Hudler is a top offensive prospect.
Tyutin is a top defensive prospect.
About an even deal on the prospects.

Detroit's 1st rounder will be 27-30th pick overall.
New Yorks's 1st rounder will be 15-24th pick overall.
The few place difference in the picks make the Lindros for Fischer square.

What does this look like to you Rangers fans?

Wouldn't you rather see Sather make a deal like this one or would you rather see him throw the 1st and Tyutin at a team to get another high price old, over-the-hill, player like Jeff O'Neill, etc.

I think it sucks, personally. We give up our best defensive prospect AND Lindros AND give you guys what will be another top 10 pick. Sorry, you want Lindros? Fine. Fischer + '04 first rounder.

Pass, our best player, our best prospect and our best pick all get downgraded.

Fischer and a first rounder is a bit much but Lindros certainly should net some value the way he's been playing.

Hudler's biggest concern is his size, not only is he small, but he's slender and you have to wonder how he'd do playing 82 games in the NHL. I haven't been watching Fischer that much so I'm not sure how he's doing, but the fact you're willing to trade him suggests that perhaps he hasn't lived up to the hype.

Tjutin by contrast is a kid who has yet to play an NHL game, but has been having a good year in the AHL and does have good instincts and size. My concern with Tjutin is his head...I'm hoping that now he's living here in the US it might help him build his confidence, although his recent knee injury has been a setback.

Finally I think if the Rangers traded Lindros now it would be a sign of them giving up, it's just not going to happen...
