Andy McDonald

What's up with him this year... I know he does not have a gifted winger this year like Teemu but I simply can't accept that fact that he wasa productive of his environment(environment being the line he played on)!

I don't get to watch any Ducks games anymore since I moved to Hamilton for school but I still listen live on NHL.com. Can anyone give me any sort of update on him? How is Todd and Mac looking together? Do they just need time to get things going? Is TEEEEEEMU COMING BACK?!

Sorry if all these questions have been asked before.

Is TEEEEEEMU COMING BACK?!

most likely, no. I can't answer any other questions because I also can't watch the games, they better go a long way in the playoffs:yo:

I think it's pretty obvious that playing with Teemu made MacDonald look better than he actually was. Just look at the stats (years with Selanne in bold):

g g a pts
2000-2001 Ducks 16 1 0 1
2001-2002 Ducks 53 7 21 28
2002-2003 Ducks 46 10 11 21
2003-2004 Ducks 79 9 21 30
2005-2006 Ducks 82 34 51 85
2006-2007 Ducks 82 27 51 78
2007-2008 Ducks 33 4 12 16

Without Teemu (excluding rookie year): 0,45 pts/g
With Teemu: 0,99 pts/g

If you compare to linemate Chris Kunitz, he is producing at almost the same pace as last season with Teemu.

The answer you're probably looking for is "no, drop him in your league."

McDonald is basically a 1st line-capable complementary speedster. Selanne is a 1st line speedy catalyst. Kunitz is a 1st line complementary player who can play all roles. They fit together as a great line. But now there's no other offensive catalysts for McDonald to play with, the only ones on the team are Getzlaf and Perry and they play a grind style (and they might not work so well with McDonald).

McDonald is playing with Bertuzzi, a 2nd line complementary grinder who's been injured so there's no chemistry yet and Marchant, a speedy guy with no offense whatsoever. He has no one to play with, hence the poor numbers.

He's also playing with no confidence right now. He'll get open shots but won't take them. He seems pretty confidence-dependent, and he gets more confident by getting the assists first. Once he gets the assists, his goal-scoring really opens up. But Bertuzzi seems to be more of a playmaker now (with the odd tip-in and rebound goal), and Marchant can't score unless it's an empty net, so Andy's probably gonna be screwed until the Ducks bring in a speedy sniper for him.

I think it's a mistake to drop him now. I expect that we'll soon here an announcement regarding the return of Selanne in January.

It's not about fantasy, the ducks are my favorite team and it pains me to see them do this bad
