Things did not go our way last night with all the Atlantic teams getting points, and the Devils coming back from 3-0 and tying the Rangers with 32 points.

Time to take back the division.

Toronto has been playing well but this is a game the Rangers should win, at home.

Bad night with Philly and the Devils winning..would be nice if the Devils could lose A game.

Tough spot here, Toskala has owned us.

It worked last week twice, let's try it again:

9-0 Leafs. 79 save shutout by Toskala.

We rebound just like the Canes did against us. No way in hell we come out flat tonight.

Lundys gets stuck in traffic, and Vally has a severe case projectile vomiting. Renney dons the pads and the boys win 3-0.

Same line-up tonight.Paul Mara is healthy enough to play but Renney is staying the same defense pairs from Monday

Paul Mara is still out so you can expect the same lineup tonight against the Leafs. Tom Renney said Mara was more or less fit to play, so the scratch tonight is a coach’s decision. Tomorrow in Atlanta remains a possibility, however.

As for Lundqvist, don’t be surprised if you see him playing back-to-back games tonight and tomorrow in Atlanta. Renney sounded like that’s where he was leaning. And you figured if you were going to see Stephen Valiquette, you’d see him tonight against the Leafs, whom he’s already had success against.

And besides is very unusual for him to have to bad games in a row.

So I think it is good for him (and thereby the team) to play as again as possible after a stinker.

On another note, what exactly is the purpose of our third line? It's not a scoring line, what have they produced after a third of the season, one goal total? They aren't a defensive line, because they usually not play defense against the opponents' top line, that's the job of the 4th line. They're not an energy line, because they aren't hitting particulary much.

So, what are they? A "let's rest the other lines" line?

Jagr has sucked 20/25 games this season. I still can't figure out what the purpose of the third line is, apart from killing ice time. Drury is a $7 million third line center. Girardi has been really bad the last couple of games.

Shouldn't have pulled Hank. Should've pulled Jagr, Malik, and Rozsival and sat them on the bench for the entire 3rd. Malik is so ****ING slow. He can't keep up with anyone. He gives players so much room. Roszival is a puss and when he's paired with Malik the two of them just look so useless sometimes. Jagr has got to cut the ****. His head isn't in it. It's not about confidence anymore. He's giving up on plays before they're actually over. He gets bumped or into traffic and he just stops skating completely and gives up on the puck. No excuse for that at all. None. Jagr needs a wakeup call.

Furthermore, why aren't these "veteran" players able to bring their game without Avery in the lineup. I know Avery provides a huge spark and it's wonderful for our team, but we can't just roll over and die without him. These last two games have been thoroughly disappointing.

12-06-2007, 07:11 PM
I hope i'm repeating someone smarter than myself when I write "Malik and Strudwick in our defensecorp make us a worse team."

Also, I have reached the unfortunate conclusion that Jagr has reached the point in his career where is his not able to compete at a high level consistently. His lack of consistent committment, a seeming lack of interest in skating hard let alone playing defense, and the fact that he is not a real captain (Shanahan, please take the C) have weighed on me these past two years.

I was hoping that the shoulder injury was the reason for most of last year, but I believe he is relying on natural talent only at this point. Of course he is more talented than a high percentage of players, but it is too easy for a defensemen to guard against him at this point if he is not going to try hard.

EDIT: Oh yeah. Tell Renney that the fans DO NOT MIND SITTING A STAR TO SEND A MESSAGE. SIT JAGR NOW. Also, stop rolling all 4 lines when we're losing. Start doubleshifting the a line to create offense. And free Staal up from his Strudwickian hell. And give up the Hossa experiment. And give Prucha a shot at some REAL offensive time, let him prove to me that his defense stinks or whatever excuse you're using to keep him down. Finally, to Sather, I'm sure someone can use Dawes and Pock, get me something I can use if we have decided that they aren't going to be contributing.

he shouldn't be, he should sit tomorrow to, time to knock that kid down a peg or two.
Knock down a peg or two? Are we talking about the same person? Lundqvist just happens to be a very humble guy. He's one of the few on this team who actually seems to hate losing.

And oh, the reason we beat Ottawa was because they were in their deepest slump of the season. And we beat the Islanders because they were beat from their schedule.

Please. What did Lundqvist do wrong? The first goal was a completely lazy play by Gomez and our defense. Yea, Lundqvist gave up a rebound but Stajan was completely uncovered to smash a rebound in from 2 feet away. Where's the defense?? Where's the backchecking? The second goal the rebound fell into the crease, but again, Roszival is standing there watching with his stick in the air after Malik got caught way out of position :shakehead. We got completely outplayed on both goals. Nobody contests Sundin standing at the side of the net. The third goal was a PP goal after yet another bad penalty by the Rangers. The fourth was a deflection that no goalie stops without getting purely lucky.

I don't even know what to say.

2 straight pathetic efforts after a nice turn in against Ottawa.

I'm starting to think we got really lucky in that game with Gerber stinking up the joint.

Bench Jagr for the rest of this game and give Hossa his minutes. Jagr's looked no different than Marcel Hossa the last two games. Completely inept. At least Hossa hustles.

If we didn't shoot wide every four outta five shots, we would have 80 shots on goal per game.

No effort, all lead by the "captain"

WHY do we pass the puck backwards 9/10 times when we regain the puck in our zone?? Even when we're not making a line change we do it wayyyyyy too much. It's like "ok we've got the puck. now get in position to forecheck and stop us in the neutral zone. we'll give it back soon, we promise" Don't they work on not doing this in practice? What the hell kind of hockey is this team playing?

Malik goes bye-bye when Mara comes back, I'd much rather have Struds in there. Staal NEEDS to play more

We always play one month where we look like cup champs, then a month of playing like the worst IHL team..

Does it bother anyone else that Rozsival can look like a #1 defenseman one game and a drunken Ozolinsh the next?
