But, they sold the first batch of tickets, which they haven't done for yesterday or Sunday. I still say bigger crowd with a chance of a sellout.

The tickets held are probably around 1,500, if. They're not holding back 3,000 tickets.

If they are, the Devils should start selling their own tickets immediately.

I picked sellout. There's not as many on TM as was being made out.

You can tell when you search what's available and what's not.

Still only pairs in the $65's, for example. These are seats they don't normally sell.

You can only get 8 $100's in offset sections, not the CI ones. The lower availablity is
scattered except for the mysterious "back rows".

Which are not supposed to be there. Another thing to keep in mind, IMO, is that this building has more than 17,625 seats. I can't count them all to prove it. But there's extra rows that should not better there. Especially in the lower bowl.

If you've spent any time in either club, you know there's probably 80 extra seats in each club region, for example.

I think actual capacity of the place is over 18K.

It seems like maybe half the sections in the lower bowl, and I think some in the balcony, have more seats than they were supposed to.

I know someone who was supposed to have backrow seats in the fire lounge.

Nope, 3rd from the back. 2 rows that weren't supposed to be there, are.

These "mysterious" rows also exist in the granite sections.

When I put in bulk requests for $95 seats for tomorrow's game, I get row 24.

That wasn't supposed to be there.

I don't know where you sat for the season opener, but there were 2 rows in alot of sections that just were not sold. Same thing for the Rangers game. They filled up as the game went along with people who wanted to be more comfortable, but when everyone's sitting where they're supposed to, you can see them.

There are alot of weird things about this building. I really think if you took a headcount of seats, it would come in over 18K.

I'm sure it's a construction error, but it's not only extra seats. Corner section seats have smaller seats than seats in sections that are straight.

There's also a happy medium between that and clapping your hands and chanting like that character from Conan O'Brien.

American sports fans have no creativity. "RANGERS SUCK!" "LET'S GO TEAM" "GO TEAM GO" "POTVIN SUCKS" "DP! DP! DP!"

It's a hockey game, not a chess tournament. I'd love to have a crowd that's actually involved and the players would like it even more. Marty, Parise, and Patty have been quoted saying that they love playing in Canada because the buildings are packed and the crowd is so into the game.

Yes, they were doing that annoying whistle/NYR "suck" chant extra loud along with an extra loud session of yelling "sucks" after the each of Dallas Stars players were introduced.

Unfortunately, many Devil fans (as usual) still have the sense of humor of a 12 year old. I really thought this new arena would bring in a more older & matture set of fans, but unfortunately, that hasn't happened yet. :sarcasm:

Rule of thumb: Never cowardly yell "sucks", from the safety & distance of section 208 for example, something that I know they wouldn't yell to Mike Modano's or Sean Avery's face, if for example they just so happened to be near them getting off a team bus. :sarcasm:

It looks like I'll be wrong about my 15,000 prediction, it looks pretty filled in the lower bowl. The games need to start at 7:30 because since the start of the game, it's filled up alot. That could be another reason why not as many people are showing up.

Marv4Life

Over half of the teams play at 7pm, yet I don't hear too many complaints. Wasn't there a fan poll about the new start time and 7pm won out?
And as far as those empty lower bowl seats, there's a good chance that the fans that are supposed to be in those seats are in the lounges or restaurant watching the game.

It does seem that that place tends to fill up more half way through the second period. Maybe people aren't used to the 7pm starts yet after it being 7:30 for forever. I remember a few playoff games last year that started at 7 and were sold out the the place was empty at the start of those games.

I wouldn't be surprised if they move the start times back to 7:30 next year.

Today's announced was pretty much the amount of people in the building.

So, that means obviously they have seats they can't move and the walkup sucks.

Can't believe they had a poll, that would actually be market research, and you can't
tell me anything that went on with this involved market research, because it runs counter to everything logic would dictate.

Honestly, they should start 7:30 on weekdays, 7 on Saturdays, and 8 on Fridays. Or just not have games on Friday. It takes me twice as long to get there on Friday as it does any other day. That people are habitually late is a big problem, and it's not the people's fault for being late. Friday draws are going to be similiar to weekday draws because of the issue of having to get there at 7, earlier if you need to purchase tickets.

I was actually shocked when I read that number, I figured maybe 16.5, or a Nets "sellout". That means everyone that was supposed to be there was and not too many people bought tickets.

They screwed the pooch. Plain and simple. You can't press the reset button, but I think they better start with some good ol' fashion market research, and not just to the in-group, the out-group too.

Me too. But I guess that the STH's showed up tonight and there wasn't much walkup.

But, it was a great crowd, at least. Besides the Mongos who get the "USA, USA, USA!" chant going.

For the number crunchers though, that's another warning sign that they screwed up big-time.

Going to the Rock on Friday nights has been bad!! That's the only night we've hit traffic though, and it's not until you get near the GSP exit on 280!

Take the train from Dover or Denville. They are both right off Route 80 and are much more pleasant than Route 280 East traffic on a Friday night.

American sports fans have no creativity. "RANGERS SUCK!" "LET'S GO TEAM" "GO TEAM GO" "POTVIN SUCKS" "DP! DP! DP!"

Let's Go Devils is something that anyone in the crowd can sing. This isn't like soccer in England where a majority of the fans know how to sing You'll Never Walk Alone or something like that.

You don't need to be creative, you just need to be earnest in supporting your team and bringing the noise. If one chant is all you need, why do anything else?

They closed the Meadowlands ramp tonight, so I got screwed by that. I gambled, and I lost.

Fridays suck, though.

Hey man, I tried really, REALLY hard to start other chants like:

"I'm blind! I'm deaf! I wanna be a ref" (after a bad call)
"We're red! We're white! We're friggin' dynamite!"
"We love you, Devils! We love you, Devils! We love you, Devils! Devils, we love you!"

But all I got were annoyed looks.

The goal is to get other people involved, it's not as if we'll get a special medal if we come up with a special chant or anything like that.

I'd be happier with 7:30 start times. And maybe people who are eating move to their seats midway through the second? At least the crowd was good tonight. There were some suit types sitting behind me.
Are you crazy? We can't even chant "Let's go Devils!" right and you want new chants? :sarcasm:
We can't even chant "Marty" at the same time.

Here in Atlanta games, except Fridays (7:30) and random Weekend games, start at 7. I love it since I am a short stroll from the arena. I can get home from work, change, have a nice dinner and still get there for the lineups. However, I have heard several people suggest on Thrashers boards that they should start the games at 9! 9!!!. They were serious and people agreed with them. Early games end earlier which is great if you have to go to work the next day.

I have to drive from yonkers, and I honestly hate the insane traffic on 95 right after continental. There is no reason for it, just volume and it is very frustrating. They need to do something about it, maybe have a separate exit for a******s who can't drive to get off.

I like 7pm starts when I am not going to the game because I hating waiting around at home for it to start. I would rather later starts on fridays for the obvious fact of more traffic.

I win!!!:yo: It looked like a 16,000 crowd to me too in reality when we have 13,000 to 14,000 for a weeknight. Thats what the building should have looked like for the Dallas game at 13,665.

:sarcasm:

games are more fun when the crowd is in it case closed. i have been a season ticket holder since 1982 when i was a kid.

not that i get into the chants anymore i leave that to the younger crowd but a loud boisterous and even obnoxious crowd is better than the one it seems you would subscribe to. it is not tennis rude fans are part of atmosphere, just like fighting is part of the product on ice i know you want that right?

Welll I was in hte box office last night about 6:30 and there were tons of poeple buying tickets. I just think there's no way they are ever going to move the seats behind the nets. They are just too expensive downlow, and seem to be the only seats in the house that don't get sold no matter who they play or what day. People are just priced out of sitting there and won't be forced to sit there if the other price rangers are out of reach. They simply won't go. Behind the nets in the balconies were like at 99% last night, that's when you know it's a great crowd...just down low behind the nets are ridiculous...Make then $65-70 or less and people will sit there, and maybe even get some hardcore fans down there who can make more noise than a lot of the buinsess people do.

As for hte game starts...right on the money. 7:30 weekdays, 7 weekends...I like the 8 friday idea....I get out of work 5:30 on fridays from the city on the east side and to get to penn station and to Newark takes me a while and I get there at about 6:45.

Meh, that's when you know it's a subsidized discount night. Last night was NEA - $65 Balcony seats for $32. No one wants those things at $65.

It looked like a 16,000 crowd to me too in reality when we have 13,000 to 14,000 for a weeknight.

Yeah, I'm actually thoroughly confused after last night's announced paid attendance. I've been there on nights they announce 11,000 or 12,000 and it looks like 9,000 in the barn. The only logical explanation is that a much higher percentage of individuals with tickets actually showed up last night. I was absolutely shocked that across the way from me there were even a decent number of $100 mezzanine seats filled, and no one ever buys those things.

Indeed. I have no voice today and kind of sick with Flu like symptoms. I will be resting the rest of the night tonight and all day tomorrow up to gametime. I plan on going and will be taking plenty of medicine to get better. It will be another good game tomorrow vs. the Thrashers.

my point is that stupid and rowdy fans, usually sometimes its over the line, but usually create a more enjoyable atomshphere for a hockey game in my opinion.
