This should be fun because sellouts are boring they give you one less thing to talk about.

I went with 14,000...I'm thinking it'll be between 13 and 14.

The complaints, eh. My problem is it never gets put off on the people that deserve it.

If they draw a truly garbage crowd tonight, there should be complaints. Just not directed at the people who pay money to show up, the people who try to buy tickets, but there's only 100 or so cheapies available each game other than the $10 seats, and the people that have 8,000 other things to do in the area, who don't know the building or the team exists because they're marketed like poison.

Great point. Competing against NFL football is unwise. Then again, so too is only having 3 Saturday night games the entire season. I still dont comprehend how the hell that happened. Saturday night is the #1 drawing night of the week, and we only get 3/41 or 7% of homes games that night.

The Giants and Jets are on the road Sunday, so it shouldn't interfere. And the lack of Saturday night games is made up for 14 Friday night games. Lots of NHL/NBA teams have games that "compete" against the NFL.

Thats another reason I decided to take the train to the Rock from Baltimore. I'm gonna get in some drinking and can't do that if I'm driving home. Hopefully the effects will wear off by the time I get back to baltimore to drive home.

I disagree, especially with the 7pm starting time we now have. It's tough for many people to reach The Rock by 7pm on a workday. STHs know what I'm talking about, as you often see a BIG difference in the people in the seats at 10minute mark than the start of the game, and it's not due to waiting for beer/food lines, it's because they are in traffic, parking, etc..
I think the Devils would be better served by having 8 or 9 games on both Friday and Saturday nights, rather than 14 Fridays and 3 Saturdays. And if you truly believe in the mantra of spending dollars on local businesses in Newark, you'd really have to buy into that opinion. I certainly cant get to Scullys or the Arena Bar at 5pm on a workday, nor can most people. But on Saturday night games you better believe I will have dinner at local restaurants (not to mention a beer or twelve).

Um....I've driven to every game, and only ONCE did I hit traffic. That night was the night we played the Rangers.

I think the Montreal game has a chance. It all depends on how many tickets Ticketmaster is holding. It is clearly much more "sold" than the other two games
this week, as of now.

And if next Friday doesn't sell out, the Devils should beat themselves about the head. You create those kinds of "events" to get people to come. That means their promoting of the event is total garbage.

We did. Think of the last two games there and the 1st period tonight. There was a reason the place was like a funeral. I think everyone was pretty happy with what happened.

The problem with Western teams is, unless you're a CI fan, it's like they came from Mars or something.

Which will be interesting when they go back to the old schedule, because almost all of the western teams have been made into poor draws. The Western teams get some players coming into their buildings that they want to see, the East.... not so much.

There was a very long line for the box office outside at 5:30 just before they released the $10 seats. Most of those seats looked full tonight.
